skoda superb executive

Featured Replies

Hi ,just purchased a new Skoda superb executive 2.0,auto,diesel

.What should my rev counter show me when idling? I always thought that 750 is normal, but it shows 1000 and in my opinion is too high.thank you in advance :)

High idle usually signifies that the car is doing a regen on the DPF. Take it out for 30-40 km and see it still idles high afterwards.

1000 rpm is normal if the car is doing a regeneration. It is not normal in everyday idling. The only exception may be if you have aircon on full tilt and a large number of electrical consumers turned on and/or an iffy battery that the alternator is fighting to charge.

could it be software ?

A high idle is not just down to regeneration of the DPF.

If you are asking for heat into the cabin, have a high electrical load, the battery is drained plus lot's of other influences the car will increase the idle RPM to 1,000rpm.

Give it a couple of days, if it doesn't return to normal something is wrong.

does your car have the "start/stop system" ?

the 2L 150 , I have been told works differently from previous diesels  that came from vw group expert, not going there for servicing.

have noticed my idle is higher than expected, will check it out tomorrow.

A DPF regen takes place over several kilometres after the catalyst has reached operating temperature (something that also takes several kilometres). You should go for a drive for at least 30-40 km to ensure that there is time for the regen to take place.

As said there are other reasons for the car to idle fast. High load such as aircon or electrics will cause it to increase the idle speed. Also, if the car is still moving it will idle at a higher speed than if it is stopped.

If none of these conditions are met and the car is still idling fast, then you should get a diagnostic scan carried out. If you think your Skoda dealer is fobbing you off, there are lots of members here with VCDS - I think there's a locator thread in the diagnostics section on these forums.

it has done now just over 1000m .air con and electronics-none of the are max .at first week it was at 750 but then its just when up and it wont go down .dealer also thought it a software, but then changed his mind .

if its a euro 6 engine nothing like this should be happening .i mean its a eco friendly ,but looks like -not.there is a slight noise on the drivers side when you start engine-I think 2 are connected somehow.thank you ,I will find a thread and check.

IF it is a Euro 6 engine in your car then you have a Superb 3 and you should probably check the Superb 3 forum here :  http://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/299-skoda-superb-iii/

The advice here (this is the Superb 2 owners forum which would all be PD and CR Euro 5 engines) can still be relevant but the Superb 3 owners will know model specific issues better than us.
