Trouble Does Come In 3's

Featured Replies

Last week other half thought she got zapped going through an "amber Traffic Light"!

I had my 30,000 mile service done on the vRS and then dumped oil on drive (Now rectified)!!

And tonight I had to limp home with what I imagine is the dreaded coil breakdown! which is great because last week when the motor was in for the service I asked the service manager to change the coils, to which he informed me that not all coils fail and that they only need replacing when they do!! so now I have to worry about how Iam going to get the car to the dealer (I guess AA) and also how long it's going to be before they can look at the car as I need the car to get around the country for work!!

Does any body know if they have to provide me with a courtesy car if they cannot see the car straight away?

And how long a job is it to get them changed changed?

Thanks again in advance

I have just been told by my "Wonderful Skoda Dealer" (NOT) that they cannot see the car until (get this)

the 5th November, and that because I managed to limp home and not leave my vRS in the middle of no-where, the AA will not provide me with a hire car, The Dealer cannot provide me with a car, the customer relationship doesn't seem to exist as they have a massive amount of repeat work from local Brighton Taxis! Hello my car cost a lot more!!

George,

Sounds like you need the services of the delightful Niki (LadyLoki) at Skoda CS. If it was a warranty problem that didn't stop you using the car, then Nov 5th is OK, but when the car is disabled by the problem then it isn't acceptable. Could you get the car to the dealers? If so, you could park in front of the service dept and start making a big noise about it. 2 minutes with the daignostic tool should tell them if its a coil pack problem and, from what I've seen in other threads, its a DIY-class job to replace them.

I guess your only other choice would be to get a coil pack out of them and fit it yourself.

Complain. Complain. Complain.

Seems the only way to get anywhere these days.

Best of luck!

If you have another dealer not to far away, and I mean not far, drive the vRS to them and say whilst you were driving it started misfiring.

The fault takes 10 seconds to diagnose with the VAG tool, especially if you point them towards the engine ecu. It takes about 2 mins to change coils in pos 1&2 and about 5 mins for 3&4 because you need to disasemble part of the engine that sits on top.

When I lost my 1st one, I took it to one dealer who said the same as yours. Then to another who fixed the fault in less than 5 mins.

They will proberbly say it takes 1/2 hour to diagnose and they cant fit it in, its all lies. they know what to look for. Or PM ladyloki in skoda customer services. She may be able to sort out the dealer for you.

Your right tried another dealer in Worthing and they can fit me in this morning, guess who i'll be going to in future!!

I suggest you still inform Skoda in no uncertain terms. They need to know when their dealers are offering CRAP service.

Any dealer should be able to take a quick look, especially as its fairly likely its a known problem with a quick fix

As I know the dealer involved I would be more than happy to have a word with the boss about this poor service if you like.

Just got back from my "new" Skoda dealer, AA towed me in at 9.00am, took about half an hour to get there, The service manager came out to meet me, with the car still attached to the AA van, once unattached he drove the car in and replaced all four coils in under 30mins. rang the dealer who said they couldn't see me till 5th November and gave them a bit of attitude and asked why they couldn't fit me in if the job is a quickie, they told me to get the car towed in and leave it with them and they would see what they could do, but couldn't promise anything. TOO LATE ALREADY DONE!! So thank you CLARION CARS of Worthing you have saved the day, and Goodbye SALTDEAN GARAGE of Brighton it was short and not Particularly sweet.

Chrish you can tell the boss that he has lost another customer, but why should he care, here comes along another Taxi, It's a shame to because my other half has seen sense and is on the hunt for the vRS Fabia.

Shocking story. They deserve a rocket.

I agree. This was the first garage I encountered in my hunt for a vRS, and was nearly put off Skoda completely. Saltdean didn't seem even slightly interested in me. I knew more than the salesman seemed to and he just seemed not to care. There were lots of white taxis with panels painted green, though...

I now have a jabba'd 4x4 hatch, so the story has a happy ending.

I am trying to reach them but the boss is away this week. I called in at Clarion myself this pm as I get my servicing done there and asked about your visit and they confirmed it had all been done. Also whilst there they were willing and able to replace my other three coils for L types under warranty.

As you and SimonT are quite new to this site seems I am local to you both if you want to make contact?

Sorry; no coconut. I was called down to Brighton by work, and I had a look at the Skoda website before I went to see whether there were any interesting cars in the area because there were none near me at the time. Probably still aren't.

Thanks for the thought, though:) .

I now see you are not local. Bought mine from Saltdean as they had the best deal.

Have had a word with the Service Manager about Blubber2's coil problem.
