Facelift, what facelift?

Featured Replies

Just got our brand new one.

Yes DRLs and the sidelights are LEDs at the bottom of the headlamp units, Indicator repeaters are still on the wing side, not in/on wing mirrors. Headlamp is different, now separate low beam (outboard) and high beam (inboard) so no longer an H4 twin filament bulb.

Whatever the new bulb types are is a secret at the moment - no data in printed manual and taking off the rubber backs under the bonnet just reveals something 'star' screwed in - so not going to be able to upgrade to brighter bulbs easily!!

No CD slot, but an aux in and a SD card slot for the radio, and no PID - a funky phone clamp is there instead, with a USB power socket up there with it.

The Seat UK website has the 'update' for the Mii for viewing,it has the new dashboard,a new range of colours and altered the models available in the range and that's about it really.

VAG seem to have taken a strange turn with the facelifts. Whilst the Up! has had a pretty comprehensive going over both inside & out, the Citigo and Mii have had little more than a 'lick & a promise', with the 'promise' being that they'll get a full update next year or the year after. It'll put the revision schedule for the three out of step.

Been looking at European Skoda sites and it appears they(Europe) get a different model line up and more paint options! Anyone else spotted this ?

All,

Just ordered a Citigo Colour Edition, already built so just has 2 weeks til arrival.

I have seen a lot about the facelift which includes the removal of the PID which instead is replaced with a fancy phone holder. The Dash itself looks to have also changed, now in colour. I see VW up has had the same change.

Anyway, when i spoke to the dealer he mentioned about my car coming with the PID. My experience with them hasn't been great in my Wife's CItigo, but maybe it just needs a reset/update or is faulty. We don't even bother using it because of the Bluetooth issues.

Dealer was confident i'd be getting the PID version but i was really hoping my colour edition would be a facelift with phone holder and new dash.

What do you all think?

When using car configurator online it gives me the option to ADD PID, even to the SE but maybe the webpage has't updated yet?

Thanks

Webpage probably hasn't been updated yet, the PID's need a battery change every year

Thanks. Its never been great since we got it.

The main issue being that Bluetooth music streams, often louder out of one speaker than the other (tried in 2 Citigos and different phones), music cuts out for less than a second and then plays the music slower before speeding right up too fast and then finally playing at correct speed after around 15 seconds. This happens every 10mins or so.

My Twingo done the same though with the speed stuff so maybe that is just Bluetooth tech.

This is why i was hoping my colour edition would get the new kit, seems unlikely.

Good news is that i have actually read some good things about the PID, so maybe we have a faulty one.

Cheers

Is that in the handbook, and does it apply to both models?

No and don't know, I only say it because shortly after a year my PID played up big time, to the point I considered getting a new one, decided to take a punt and replace the battery for a tenner and that fixed my issues, so next year if it does the same, I know it'll need a new battery

Have you tried conditioning the battery and letting it run flat every so often? The way the PID is used and is basically constantly on charge can cause battery issues over time.

If you use it quite a lot I would let it run flat in the house every so often.

It's a good idea, unfortunatelyI have a gene called lazy in my DNA :D

What type of phone? Bluetooth is the transmission medium and I can't think of a way this would slow down/speed up music - sounds like a phone/os/software issue.

On my Superb II I've had some glitching when playing music on from Motorola Android phone - especially if other apps are running or if phone is turned (causing screen to rotate). This has never affected handsfree phone conversations from the same device

Try on a bluetooth speaker - does it do the same thing?

lol it's more effort opening it up and replacing the battery than it is to leave it switched on once a month. :)

We have a similar thing with a disaster recovery laptop we have at work. It is permanently plugged in and charging whilst it is used on a desk so it is part of the "housekeeping" that nights staff run it on the battery for a few hours one night shift a week so that if ever it is used in anger it should last more than 5 minutes.

If Audio louder one side than the other, then reboot the pid (hold button on top until the screen goes black) I had this a lot on SD music and Bluetooth. Also an update via pic software garment fresh seams to cure it!
