New VRS owner. Bilstein B12 pro suspension + straight pipe exhaust

Featured Replies

Hello, just got my VRS not long ago (BLT engine), very fun car to drive.  Ill add some pics at some point

Wanted to know what are good upgrades to do first ?, handling increase, nice exhaust ect

I have cleaned the egr and asv (both were very blocked). Worth getting rid of the egr with the kit on darkside ?. (want to keep the asv though)

Cleaned the maf sensor and fitted a dry pipercross filter. New oil/filter, new fuel filter, tank of v-power, fitter some nightbreakers also.

New oem dogbone mount on the way. Crankcase oil separator on the way.

Looking a getting the Bilstein B12 pro suspension witch Eibach springs , anyone have it on theirs ?, how is the handling?.

Also looking at getting a stainless cat back straight through exhaust.

Any tips and advice on what to do and what not to do will aid with my decisions

Not worth deleting the EGR, it won't add anything.

Put a new standard paper filter back in it, those Pipercross panels are rubbish.

I have the full B12 setup with RARB and solid bushes and the handling just gets better the harder you push it.

Exhaust a complete waste of money, cosmetic only until you're up over 220bhp with a big turbo, it'll sound more like a tractor though if that's your thing.

As above, standard filter and exhaust is good for 220/230bhp. But for exhaust upgrades, most fit the miltek system.

Rarb is a most have mod on these cars. Transforms the handling, and decent tyres of course. Also the 312mm brake upgrade is cheap and worth while. The standard brakes are awful when pressing on.

Appreciate the advice. Gonna keep the pipercross had one on 6 of my cars, easy to wash put back in.

I'll leave the egr alone if there's no real benefit in removing it. Just clean it as and when.

Was actually looking at a miltek system, but i suppose it's not really worth it unless i have a remap. I do sort like the truck/tractor sound and the turbo pigeon sounds. Am i weird lol?.

I have toyo t1r's on the front and pirelli p zero's on the back. Think i will go the the B12's. Ill look into the bigger brakes too.

Whiteline arb any good?, or is there a certain one i should get ?.

JabbaSport is the stiffest RARB. The classic suspension combination was always Koni FSDs and Eibach springs. In reality anything from a reputable company will be an improvement but don't expect miracles. It will corner a bit flatter and you might be able to push the throttle a bit harder out of roundabouts but anything from Peugeot, Citroen, Ford or Renault will be much quicker in the corners. It is what it is. A well made (heavy) small car with an enormously heavy engine in the front.

RARB, SEAT Curpa console bushes, springs and shocks, 312mm Audi TT front brakes with 17" Octavia Spider wheels and you're ready for your remap.

I'd personally go for the ultra racing RARB, a much better design than the jabba.

You can fit the 312mm brakes behind the standard wheels you don't want to fork out extra.

Ultra racing rarb looks spot on. I like the stock wheels so dont think ill be changing them just yet. A wider tyre maybe ?. What it to be mostly stock looking.

For what the car is doesn't handle bad. I will most certainly get a rarb and new shocks/springs just not 100% on which. My 3 previous cars all had bilsteins and they were brilliant.

Is it worth getting even a mild remap with stock clutch ?.

Brakes are ok but not as bitty or as sharp  as i'd like.

Jesus, you're not trying hard enough, standard handling is APPALLING, just wait until you get it on billys and you look down at the speedo as you're tackling the B roads like a scalextric car.

Forget wider tyres, they make it a liability in the wet and it'll tramline like crazy. You do actually want to go faster and not just look like you do? Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement, RICE, don't fall into the the trap.

Ha. I'll send the big wing back to ebay then. Just stick to getting the B12 billys and rarb.
