Left side headlight pointing too much to left when going under 50km/h

Featured Replies

Title tells my problem.

I think its just some innovative feature from skoda but i dont see any benefits to this headlight behavior.

So you VCDS wizards, can you help me disable this feature? I have access to vcds so just point me in right direction!

My car is Octavia rs (MY16)

Thank you in advance!

Click once again clockwise the lights switch. Now it's on Auto which is smart and doing this..

Yes i know but i like to keep em on Auto so highbeam assist works and lights move to where im going...

IF there is an option you will need to program them using service application via OBD. Out of the box I did not find a way to make them half smart.

It's called city mode and is active from 15 to 50 km/h.  It is supposed to illuminate the pavements (both sides f the road) better so you have more chance of seeing pedestrians.  Generally I don't notice other than when I stop in a queue of traffic and see it wandering back into alignment!

Correction inline, bold.

Maybe a small percentage of the population who are under two foot tall ;-)

In theory you should be able to remove city mode by adjusting the headlight range module coding. I suspect nobody has spent enough time to figure out which bits are responsible for it.

As an example, I added city mode to my mk2 fl Octavia by recoding. Unfortunately the headlight range module code changed significantly on the mk3 so none of that work is useful to you.

I don't know about the Xenon's City Mode, but the kick up on the left side of the standard beam pattern on most lights is enough to frequently dazzle pedestrians (and the rear view mirrors of cars one is about to overtake).

Not with the adaptive xenons at city speeds.

It's city mode, it can be disabled in the coding of the headlight module with a tick box.

Then you have to reset the headlights with VCDS to clear any errors.

It's in one of my threads somewhere......
