Build week 45 - vRS Estate!

Featured Replies

Just heard that my new vRS is due to be built week commencing 7th November!

This will be my first ever Skoda, but having been so impressed with a drive in my brother's TDI Hatch earlier this year, I'm sure I'll be chuffed with it.

Spec is:

Octavia vRS Estate - Petrol

Quartz Grey

Manual

18" Geminis

Colour Maxi Dot

Sunset Privacy Glass

Canton Sound

Heated Windscreen and front seats

Black Design Pack

Power Tailgate

KESSY

Space Saver Spare Wheel

Variable Boot Floor

Smart Link

Really looking forward to delivery, which has been estimated as early Dec '16 but, (hopefully not,) this is subject to change!

*Excited*

Congrats Shmoo, you can't really go wrong with a Skoda, they've been part of my family for 20 years and 6 cars later and the most trouble we've ever had was a dying battery.

Seems like we are all ordering vRS as Christmas and new year presents.

Thanks SkodaCB, that's very reassuring to hear! I thought I'd be one of very few people ordering before the facelift arrives, but obviously not!  Hope yours arrives swifty for you!

That's a facelift only a mother could love. Order goes in tomorrow morning first thing as got approved for the finance this evening. Once it's not before the years end I don't mind as the Irish registration system goes Jan-Jun then July-Dec.

There's an odd rush of people ordering before the facelift comes in.

Do you think that's because people are finding decent deals on the current models, or that the facelift has so far not been very well received so far?  To be honest, I have not seen many details about the facelift, but I was unsure about the front headlight design if that is how it is actually going to look. Perhaps it's a grower? My order was placed 'now' because even if I wanted to, I couldn't have waited for a new build of the facelift and I think I got a decent deal on the spec I wanted.

If I'm honest I ordered a few weeks ago because I got a good deal and I needed a car not because I thought an ugly facelift was coming.

The facelift is less generic than the current one but a bit ugly.  You're right that it could be a grower.  I hated the facelift of the current Fiesta at first and now I like it.

I've ordered mine due to the deals currently running. I was aware of the forthcoming facelift - though not it's 'challenging' appearance - and assumed that's why the deals are so strong.

Glad it's going to be a pre-facelift now though.

Picked up a 2014 VRS Combi this morning, 6000 miles only, our seventh Skoda. Similar spec to yours and it's a really lovely car, bit more perky than the Yeti it replaces and lots of toys for those long winter evenings stuck in the traffic. Have fun!

lol Seventh Skoda, fair play! Good to hear that many people seem to return to the brand again and again - Skoda must be doing a fair bit right to engender such loyalty!   Glad to hear you're happy with your new acquisition and also that it is 'perkier' than your Yeti! 6k miles is v.low for a 2014 car so I imagine it's immaculate...(or did you miss off a zero!?) :D   B)  I won't pretend that I'm not jealous that you have your new car and I'm in for a bit of a wait for mine, but I'm sure it'll be worth it! Enjoy it and let us know how you're getting on with it!  :)

 That is indeed an impressive display of loyalty! I gives me great confidence that my first Skoda experience is likely to be a good one!

Quick update: Had an email from the lease company today, saying that my car is scheduled for delivery on 8th December, so it'll be here this time next week!

I ordered it very late September, so it'll have taken about 9-10 weeks from placing the order, which is a little quicker than the 12 weeks that was estimated.

Looking forward to getting it, despite the freezing conditions atm - at least the winter pack should prove its worth!

Christmas present coming allso to me, week45 built 4x4 RS octavia combi/estate, quartz grey.

Should be on local dealer ready for pick up at 14th december. \o/

In a last update to this thread: The car arrived yesterday as scheduled! :)

It was driven to us, (a distance of approx 250 miles,) in pretty crappy winter weather, so as you'd expect it wasn't exactly sparkling and perfectly showroom-clean. I can hardly blame the delivery driver for that though, although he apparently gets a *really* hard time from some clients in these circumstances! He arrived at 9.30am, so was up mega early to drive that far and I appreciated the effort there.  He gave me as much time as I needed to inspect the car and was able to explain all the controls and features clearly. The lease company have been faultless in their service so far - I just hope they're as accommodating when they collect it in three years time...! ;)

The car, overall, has already exceeded my expectations: Firstly, the ride is FAR better than I expected. I find it surprisingly fluid and supple, (on 18" Gemini's) and living where we do in the New Forest that's a big plus because some of the roads are rather 'rustic' at best. I love the interior - the seats, steering wheel, and general fit and finish all seem bang on. No rattles or creaks to report, although it is obviously early days.

I've obviously not tested the performance fully as I try to be mildly respectful until its properly run in, but I can tell it has enough performance to be entertaining and will easily cope with the kind of journeys I'm likely to be doing day-to-day.  In terms of extras, the options we chose all seem like good choices: KESSY and the powered boot are *so* handy with two small humans and a four-legged furry bod in the family, so I'm very glad we ticked those boxes. The Canton upgrade, having read some pretty derisory reviews, has more than enough quality and oomph imho, and I assume will 'run-in' and improve with a bit of time and some extra setting up. I have not heard a standard set-up, but I'm glad I chose this option already.

Interestingly, there appears to be a extra or two that we did not spec, that have been added/coded to the car. I may be wrong, but I thought the lane assist feature and cornering lights were options, (that I know I didn't pick,) but they are still present on the car. :) Standard features on the Vrs or a small freebie bonus? Either way, can't complain!

So, having covered a whopping 43 miles since delivery, (I've been busy at work!) I'm really chuffed with the car so far! I'm sure the tech in the FL version next year will be streets ahead, but I'm really impressed as a newbie Skoda owner and am looking forward to ownership on these very positive initial impressions. :)

I hope all of you currently waiting for your delivery are equally impressed with your purchases. I think you will be! ;)
