Skoda Service App

Featured Replies

What have Skoda done to the once simple and useful 'phone app called Skoda Service? It disappeared from my phone yesterday and I find it needs to be replaced with a new version that requires a log in and password. Haven't tried the new version but reports I have read say it does not link properly to your VIN, nor does it have the relevant car manual information. Most seem to see this change as another backward step by Skoda. Anyone on here found the same problems with it?

Yeah mine updated from the "Skoda Service" to the new "My Skoda" app on my iPhone the other day. The new app is quite frankly ****!!!! You have to create an account the first time you use it and then log in EVERY TIME you open the app. I've also found that the car info isn't as specific as it used to be in that it now only shows the month and year the car was first registered rather than the full date that it used to show.

It doesn't keep the photo I put on of one of our cars anymore and reverts it back to the stock image every time you close the app down.... Only does this for one of our cars and not both though.

The app also now uses very poor English grammar and is obviously not done by a UK based developer etc.....

IMHO they've changed a great little app that was really useful into a waste of memory space..... Thankfully the Skoda Manual app that they have for the iPad has not been altered as yet and so is still very useful.

When the App updated on my iPhone I had to create a login (I never had one before) and whenever I entered the VIN it crashed. I noticed it had remembered some data (dealer name, model type,...) so it looks like the new version was trying to read the old data structure and crashing as it was incompatible - that's a schoolboy error for ANY App developer!

I had to delete the App and re-install it for it to start working semi-properly - I say semi because it claims it has a message for me but there is NO message.

Skoda should sack the new App developer and re-employ the old one IMHO.

Thanks for responses. The initial need for registration, then sign in each time, part English/part foreign presentation, poor comments, etc., have convinced me it's not worth going any further. Shame, I was quite enjoying referring to the previous version and found it quite useful.

If you have an iPad then the Skoda Manual app is just as good as the original Skoda Service app was. ;)
