How much does a 17" Alloy wheel with a tyre weigh..

There is a considerable difference in weight between different designs of alloy wheels.  To which wheel are you referring?  Not so much variance in weight between different tyres of the same size.

A Google search should answer your question.

Skoda OEM ones are around about 19kg

Thanks Gizmo, I'm on it

Thanks again

Depends on whether it's filled with air or nitrogen. HTH :)

from memory and in imperial measure (showing my age) I looked at various VAG alloys and they seem to average about 42lb each with tyre unless you look at the forged audi pepperpots, 15" with tyre and they are 30lb hence why they used them on the ROC buggies

Just dont even start that :D

Also might make a difference if they are weighed lying on edge or on their side... :p

I was going to go with the other option of making sure you let all the air out first

Actually that's not as daft as you might think!

I've got one of these and it weighs considerably more when it's full to when it's empty! Same principle - just a slightly different PSI. :peek:

Have any of you blokes been tempted to fill one of those with helium?

I know I would :D

*Not recommended if on a shout obviously.

Back of the fag packet sums says about 4Kg heavier full, @ 3000psi?  (guessing/assuming 10cm internal radius and 70cm internal length)

Only slightly!!

(up to) 300 BAR in a cylinder compared to 3 BAR in a tyre  :D

Surely more like 2 bar? (well except for mounting pressure)

When I advertised my VW Golf MK7 Dijions with 225/45 tyres fitted they weighed 20kg & I stated 21kG to allow for packaging..

However by Team Dynamics Prorace 1.2 in the same size & tyres in the same size are 2.5kg lighter per alloy!!!

Tyres can vary quite a bit in weight too. My TD 1.2 15"s came with some stupidly high load rating tyres 185/65/15 suitable for a Golf that were 12kg EACH just for the tyre! Put on my Fabia spec 205/50/15 tyres and the wheel+tyre is 14KG!

Had various OEM 16"s with tyres that I've sold been weighed by UPS at 24KG, others at 19KG.

I can confirm after posting 4 recently, a single octavia vRS 17" spider is almost smack on 10kg. :)  Tyre?  Not sure, I guess same again, perhaps a little less

So add a 8kg tyre and put in 1 Kilo of smack and that will be a 19kg package wrapped in heavy duty bubble wrap.

Have the OP's tyres / wheels / drugs been delivered yet?

Yep, wheels yesterday. Wheels were picked up in Newquay Wednesday teatime and arrived in Sunny Yorkshire 07.30 the following morning.

Excellent service/price by Paisley Freight.
