Takes ages to warm up

Featured Replies

My diesel Mondeo was barely warm at the end of my 9 mile commute on pretty clear A roads. The heated windscreen was great. Heated windsreen and seats is the way to go and is why I cancelled my initial TSI order because Skoda didn't build the MkIII petrol with heated front screen until later in 2014, supposedly due to higher emissions (according to the salesman).

If you fit a aux heater or electrical block heater, you won't need a heated windscreen :)

Yes you do. Not all trips are planned ahead.

+1

Small cost of £200 plus being able to actually see pretty much as soon as you drive away with no recurring misting makes a lot of sense.

As above, my petrol 1.4 warms up in a very few minutes, even in these cold times. Very snug !!

Yep, we have the electic heater here as standard equipment in the oil burners.

In my 2.0 TDI the cabin starts warming up almost instantly.

Don't suppose you've got any part numbers have you?

That would be a very welcome additional fit in the UK

I meant in the UK.

Also the heated screen isn't something you can easily retrofit in the UK.

A wolverine pad or DEFA oil pan heater is a cheap option that will cover 90% of the time and a lot better than having nothing.

Yes I would love a pre-heater and heated screen, plus a maintenance charger, but we are where we are :(

No misting noted with my new 1.4TSI yet. The heater warms up fairly fast but I'd prefer it if the centre dash vents automatically blew some warm air. Seeing the buttons, to do a manual over ride is not easy in the dark.

when you drive in the ice-rain then no matter what, wipers turn into icicles pretty fast. The heated windscreen is the best solution by far in those conditions.

I've found that the 170 diesel in the Superb puts out heat within 2 miles. The coolant temperature needle gets to 90 by 4to5 miles but the oil temp is still only mid 50s. Doesn't get too 80c plus till about 9 - 10 miles.

Compared to my old PD140 which didn't put heat out till about mile 9!

The old 1.8tsi twindoor would start to output heat whilst you scrapped the ice of the screen :D

Hasn't the superb got an aux cabin heater?

No idea Mark. Tis nice when coupled with heated seats.
