The 'No More Than 350 Miles Per Tank' Thread

Featured Replies

The antithesis of the 500 and 600 miles per tank threads, this is the "How low can you go?" thread. The rules are simple; you MUST brim your tank as you would if you were going for the 500 or 600 mile targets, but then drive it like you stole it, spend your days stuck in traffic, or do loads of short trips to the shops. But the end result is "How few miles can you get out of your tank?"

So, how low can you go?

To red light, to PID zero or to sitting beside the M6 calling the AA?

Lets be sensible shall we? PID zero.

My worst tank average is 42.41mpg. Extrapolated to a 35 litre fill this equates to less than 327 miles.

Back in the early days I used to get 250 odd to a tank, I thought that was really good fuel economy. I realise how wrong I was when I hit about 350 to a tank and that's with the good stuff to :D

My worst tank full to empty run was 290 miles. But the blast over the kirkstone pass in the Lake District was a hoot.

Lets be sensible shall we?...

Surely that's against the spirit of this topic!

Best ever was 370 but over three years, however I drive, always about 360

I've struggled to get below 350, but have managed it a couple of times when I've been teaching in very hot weather, air conditioning going full tilt, doing lots of traffic lots of first / second lessons and lots of manoeuvres.

can i fill it with diesel?  :p

i struggle to get 350 all the time! despite how i drive, ive never once seen more than that and have to drive like a nun going to bible class to get near it! i even sold my lead shoes, but no change :notme:

can i fill it with diesel?  :p

You'd definitely get under 350 miles out of that tankful.

Most of my tanks have been less than 350 - the pitfall of having the serpens wheels.

My calculated average MPG over 3 years and 18k miles has been 48mpg - anything under 45mpg is around 330-350 miles for me.

420+ avg. 60mpg
