I finally got back out on my bike after months of going no further than a mile or 2.  I had issues with my artificial legs and could not get repairs carried out.  Now sorted out and ready for getting back into the daily habit of biking regardless of the weather.  It was cool and dry this morning so fine to see how I would feel. Only 10 miles done with full assistance but I will stick to that for distance daily this week until I see how my back, knee and heart 💖 gets on.

Then i will reduce assistance while sticking to the same length of ride and then go out twice then 3 times a day until back covering longer distances on single rides.

That's not you trying to walk on water in the first piccie, then? :)

Seriously, though, glad to see you're able to get out and about again - and I'm envious of the scenery!

I'm currently riding an e-bike to and from work as parking on site would be £22 and public transport to and from is very difficult. I didn't think I would ever ride a bike again after several knee inj

@MikeTheThinkerHe was Fly Casting.

There were other fishers across at the sailing club getting ready to go out in boats.

There used to just be Pike and some Perch in there but now stocked with Rainbow Trout.

My bum needed no 'breaking in', so back to 20-30 miles twice a day using full assist and that allows 10 miles or more still on full assist.

I will leave it a while to back at full fitness and then get longer rides in using less assistance.

Great pictures, George!

BTW I hope you're not a hayfever sufferer with all that Rape pollen ...

It is all around this area. The issue i find is once they spray it and are holding it waiting to be harvested.

The Coniston is four and a half years old now, and still going strong.  Celebration today as I did my first proper ride since my hip replacement, doing a 20 mile round trip along Eastbourne sea front, up over Beachy Head to Belle Tout and back.  Hip feels absolutely fine, but unlike George, my derrier is feeling it a bit, even with my favourite B17 saddle.  Took a snap of the Beachy Head lighthouse on the way past. Nigh on perfect cycling weather

@Gaz for about 5 years now i have been wearing my Padded Cycle Pants over my pants even when not cycling as they make my artificial leg much more comfortable and help the suction.

I have 3 pairs of a more brief size & tight and 3 pairs that are a bit baggy.  All are getting a bit thread bare and ready for replacement.

Like these, but they were £8 a pair when i bought them, and they have been worth every penny.

(The padding is on the inside as i wear them, not on the outside.)

EDIT,

Found the same as i have @ £7.99 and ordered more.

I went out with a mate who'd obviously put his padded shorts on in a rush, thing was the insert was bright red so he looked like a baboon! Padded shorts should go next to skin to stop chance of chaffing, might not apply for your need, and indeed feels a bit wrong 'just wearing knickers' as my wife says.

@NJRJWhen i was younger i wore cycling shorts with chamois leather inserts and that was horrible as were people using banana skins or the banana to soften the 'leather' or to make their bum more comfortable.

I also remember the days of caffeine suppositories.

Cheers George - I'm a more recent convert to cycling shorts.  I'm very self conscious of my disability, my right calf being some 3" less in circumference than my left.  But a couple of years ago I thought F'k it, bought some, and haven't looked back.

I've a risk of dislocation of my new hip joint, so getting back in the saddle has been with care and a fair bit of trepidation as I don't want to have to land heavily on my right side, so I've been doing shorter rides. This morning was only going to be about five miles, and I was in jeans.  But it was so nice to be out I just kept going.  Serves me right, but it'll be shorts from now on.

I always wear a BMX Shin Guard on my own leg but forgot the first day out this week and was very conscious after i noticed.

I can not find ones big enough anymore that are velcro fastening, so it was a pair i bought and made one guard out of them. (I now have a spare after buying another pair.)

(I always buy lots of things once i find what i like incase there is a 3rd WW or a Pandemic or the likes.)

My 5 pairs of long shorts from George @ Asda that i have had for years have finally fallen apart after lots of patching and strengthening so now i have a few pairs of 'Dickies' Industrial work shorts.

Below the knee and nice secure pockets and key loop etc.    Sorted for years to come hopefully.

Yeah, this is actually good kit for the (lack of) money it costs.

I got 2 pairs of the 'Baboon arse' inners recently, 1 pair for here and the other to go to France, the only thing I found odd at first was how short they are at waist at the back but I think that's more being used to larger Madison inners/shorts.

Comfort otherwise was fine

From Lightinthebox I think but generally available on Amazon/Bay of E etc?

Amazon delivered new pants already in less than 24 hours.   That is pretty hot, just like my pants this morning.  I set out in the mist and now it is over 20 degrees and time to watch the Giro d,Italia with a beer on the comfort of my sofa. My favourite day of that or any race with a mountain top finish.

My favourite days of any stage race are mountain top finishes, preferably with a good live descent before the final climb.

I had a rear puncture on the Orbea and removing the rear wheel is not simple or quick.

I have a 'slime' tube in now.

Getting used to it now and using less assist unless required and getting more range from it now in pretty hot weather.

I have not decided yet if i am buying a 'Range extender' battery for it yet.

It just tops up the main battery when it is not being used so i might not bother.   The bike rides OK without using the Motor.

It is ages since i have ridden my big bike and i had kind of forgotten just how smooth and quick it is.

It has loads of power, but i had forgotten that it was time for yet another chain & cassette as it does consume them far too quickly.

Appreciate you're on slime now, but a Gaadi tube might get you out of trouble:

If you use them correctly then these are brill. So easy to use.

https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-self-seal-repair-patches/p/0258276

And IIRC I've had maybe five or so of these on one tube at one point, and the tyre stayed inflated for ages. At the time I didn't have a replacement tube.

And they got me home when one valve partially split from the tube one day, with four of these used to patch the split. Dodgy tubes off ebay though so maybe serve me right some may say. They weren't cheapo tubes though to be fair.

A dropper seat post is the greatest thing ever in my opinion.

Worth every penny of about £100 for one that does not need feeding through the frame.

I am riding my bike with a Bosch Performance motor just now. It does not have e-MTB enabled.  When i am pedalling and getting to around around 17-18 mph i change gear and go back to 15.5 mph because i prefer to spin and save my knee.

I have my Brose Motor on my Specialised Chipped for 'Offroad' Use.  Actually i end up riding much the same speed which is as was standard and when the 'Wheel Circumference' is not changed on the Mission Control.

I got the bits to chip my Yamaha motor Fatbike but have never bothered to get it fitted.

Earlier i did a 12 mile ride having started with 23 mile range in Turbo and stayed in Turbo and got home with 17 mile range showing.

No headwind, scorchio and as much downhill as up and i was feeling good after doing the ride yesterday on a pushbike.

It shows eMTB but then just goes to Sport.

I ride in Turbo mostly unless trying to get range to get home.

20*oC plus and 35-40 mile range.  10*oC sort of temp and 25-28 miles.
