Worth fixing a/c before sale - opinions please?

Featured Replies

I'll be looking to sell my 59 reg Fabia Estate 1.9 TDi in January (new Yeti ordered) and am wondering whether it is worth fixing the a/c before selling.  It needs a new condenser which I reckon will cost about £100 and a day of hassle if if I fit it myself or £300+ if I get a garage to do it.

Apart from the a/c, the car is good mechanically, goes great (remapped), has lower than average miles but isn't cosmetically perfect so won't get top money.  Any views as to whether it is worth fixing or not - would no a/c deter potential buyers of a £2000 to £2500 car?

Two thought processes here, you tell any new buyers it at that prices as its got 1/2 niggles (air con), otherwise the buyer might buy another the same model if the price is similar and condition is the same but with working aircon,, if yours is cheaper to allow that to be fixed then the buyer can take that into account. You look at the price of similar vehicles of the same condition and decide if if you could recoup the cost in the sale. Depends what price the market is ?

Even on £2000-2500 cars people knock some off for what they find to be fixed. If its a feature buyers like to see it working unless the price reflects it.
