You really are a miserable humourless toad, no idea what I've done to upset you but trollolol to you and have a nice day, it would be even better if you actually knew anything and could contribute instead of just charging in here like a bull in a china shop with some second-hand indignation to randomly distribute.

You haven't upset me at all. I think your pointless, non contributory replies are simply a pointless operation. You think I know nothing or don't contribute to this forum but my post count and content say different. Your post count is largely drivel and self promotion of being a keyboard equipped halfwit with an over inflated opinion of yourself and your worth on this forum.

Wind your neck in and learn to help others rather than feed your over inflated option of yourself and your worth.

Fight, fight.

As acerbic and blunt that Sepulchrave's posts are; he's actually very informative and helpful I've found.

Anyway; I tried RS3's on my 1.9TDi and they didn't last particularly well I found; especially if you likeabit of spirited driving. Great grip in the wet but made of chocolate.

I'm on Good Year Eagle F1's now. Just as grippy IMHO and lasting longer.

After my RS3s are toast, i'll be going Michelin Pilot Sport 3. I just couldn't spread my arse cheeks enough last time at £100 a corner

There isn't going to be a fight mate, I'd happily argue etc with him some more but if I lower myself to his level, he will certainly win through his experience.

No need to be acerbic and blunt though is there? Pointless post count upping. Help and be nice about it, not be a d1ck about it.

Anyway, I'd go for the rain sports or the continentals if it were me. Through experience, they are the better wearing tyres I have had on my old Fabia.

gone for Goodyears so hopefully they will be alot nicer than my current tyres :)

Pointless post count upping.

not that im taking sides .. but you made three posts in a row there which could have all been on one, and you talk about post count upping haha

Point taken and thanks for the helpful reply for the op. +1 post count.

I appreciate the input

I'm on my 2nd set of the Goodyears, love them. Rain performance is fab. I do about 25k a year and the rubber lasts well. Didn't even bother with winter tyres last year as these did me well through the weather; they cope better in the slush than the winters I had before. Good choice, enjoy!

I have the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance on my 1.9 tdi estate. Made a phenonmenal difference to the car and in the wet, it just sticks to the road like muck to a shovel.

cheers guys will hopefully see some nice improvements when they're fitted

Thought i'd post an update if anyone's interested.

Ive now had the efficient grip's on for a few months and I'm loving them!

The way they stick to the road in the wet (haven't really been able to test the dry lol)

I can go round roundabouts at decent speed and pull out of slippery junction without doing an accidental burnout :)

Also, not having understeer all the time means I don't have to lift off mid corner so oversteer isn't such a problem any more considering i've still got cheap tyres on the rear.

Really pleased with my choice and cant believe the difference in grip.

You do realise if you are not replacing all four tyres the new ones should be fitted to the rear?

Yea I am aware of that advice but I don't want to have cheap tyres on the front as its where most braking & cornering effort occurs.

The car has been so much more stable since fitting these new tyres and if the back end does come round there's enough grip on the front to be able to accelerate out of it

It was the understeer i had with my old tyres that was really scary as there was no way of getting it back other than lifting off which induces oversteer

I will be replacing the rear tyres for better ones when i can afford it, as currently they are accelera's which are horrible in the wet

I'm a little bit disappointed that the the tyre place didn't do this for me or even ask me what I wanted to do when I had my front tyres changed a couple of weeks ago. I'd have thought they would given the safety aspect.

I have Bridgestone All weather tyres, I needed new fronts as they were worn after 38k.

Yeah most tyre places don't ask tbh :(

More work for them for no extra £££££ could be the reason?

OP;

Oversteer is easy enough to correct at low speeds on roundabouts etc,but get some at higher speeds and you really think you have the power to drive out of it? :O

I'd had understeer before which was horrible  regardless of speed and as a result used to get a bit of oversteer as well.

Much rather have grip on the front, its only a 1.2 so doesnt have much weight over the front wheels

Possibly, one wonders if they could be held responsible if the car was involved in an accident soon afterwards as a result of oversteer, probably hard to pinpoint the blame though as there'd be loads of other factors.
