Another: TFSI vRS: squeal only on throttle lift off

Featured Replies

Hi all

Following on from the previous thread of a similar name I have a very similar problem.  Started with a flat spot and squeal at around 2500 rpm and a squeal on lift off.  Diverter valve replaced and squeal and flatspot gone at 2500 but squeal still present on lift off (not as loud as 2500rpm squeal).  I have a BSH Catch can fitted by the previous owner, this has now stopped collecting anything.  As the previous thread was sorted by the PCV being replaced I'm assuming I'm facing a similar problem but as I didn't fit the catch can i'm not exactly sure on what part in it could have failed as I thought it was a fairly simple piece of kit.  I have a spare PCV but would rather keep the catch can if possible.  Alternatively is it possible I botched the diverter valve install (seems unlikely as the catch can isn't catching anything).

I also believe my mpg may have dropped a little.

Cheers for the help in advance!

Has the seal under the pcv blanking plate failed possibly? If the crankcase gasses were escaping past the seal it could squeal and also the gasses wouldn't be going into the catch can so no oil vapour to collect.

Got to be worth starting there! Will report back once I get a chance to get it off.
