Simply Clever Ice Scraper

If more people did, insurance might be cheaper for everybody.

Unless you live in a high theft area, Insurance is generally more expensive if you park in a garage than on a road or driveway. The biggest costs to insurers which increase everyone's premiums are false injury claims and uninsured drivers.

Do yourself a favour and google 'swedish ice scraper' You'll never buy a cheap one again. They're awesome. I'll dig a link out... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009SKM7Z4/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8

  • And have my insurers laugh down the phone at me when I try to claim after it's been stolen from the drive? I'll stick to the tepid water thanks.

You have to do a bit of VCDS tweaking. I think it will lock the door but not do anything else (deadlock/alarm etc).

They talk about it here

EDIT: just seen you liked that post too so obviously seen it  :D

:D memory like a sieve

Are you absolutely sure of that? My garage is alarmed and has CCTV and that cut 10% off my cover cost.

What is this scraping process you all talk about ? I open the garage door and drive out. Two miles down the road and heat pours into the car....

what? If I did that my bike would be outside getting wet/dirty/cold

Admittedly the article is a couple of years old, but I haven't seen anything since that claims otherwise...

As stated in the article, insurers see you as more likely needing to claim because you're more likely to prang your car getting it in and out of the garage, than getting it on/off your driveway.

Like anything with insurance though, there isn't a one scenario fits all, so it depends on where you live; if your postcode is deemed quite a high risk for theft and your car is one that theives quite fancy, then the risk of theft might be greater than the risk of you accidentally crashing into the side of your garage, which will translate into a reduced premium for having it tucked away out of plain sight.

Often and night before de-icer because when the temperature is staying below freezing pouring warm water in not a smart or 'Simply Clever' idea.

Also had to wee on a Fuel Filler flap at all night filling stations when the flap would not open.

Obviously there may be CCTV operating, but needing fuel took priority over worrying about being an internet sensation.

Other people must drive straight from the bat cave, not park up anyplace for long and then return home to tuck their vehicle up,

or just leave it only in heated buildings.

Wee should also make a good deal de-icer as it doesn't freeze until around -5

Good luck trying that on a busy street  :D

It was below -5*oC when i had to wee on the filler flap and had been for several days.

The UK may in the main not be that cold for days and nights on end.

There are many that suggest quick defrost ideas and practices but likely they are not in postcode areas that get several Cold Weather Payments of £25 for 7 days at 0*oC or forecast to be for 7 consecutive days.

Some UK Postcode Areas have 5-7 weeks a winter like that.

Already this winter there has been at least 1 payment made, maybe 2 for some areas.
