Spots on the rear window

Featured Replies

Hi,

Had my VRS since May and I'm still loving it but after a fortnight or so I noticed these spots on the rear window, I thought they'd come off when I gave the glass a clean inside and out but this hasn't made a difference. Its only a little niggle hence why I've not took it to the dealer, its only annoys me when I spot them in the rear view :D

The thing is some days you can't see them, not sure why but may have something to do with the factory sunset glass and the daylight. In certain light they seem to disappear so I don't always see them in the rear view and from outside.

Anyone come across this issue?

Cheers

Luke

Mine is exact the same... sometimes there sometimes not. Weird

It looks like the same as looking at the Windscreen whilst wearing Polaroid Sunglasses

I assume the sun set glass has the same affect in certain light

I have octy MY17 bought in october...same :)

I also see this from time to time, always wondered what causes it. Like you the first time I saw it I thought the glass needed cleaning on the inside, but it made no difference.

Well that is strange and also nice to know I'm not the only one :) Would be nice to know what they are though.

My guess is a flaw in the lamination process?

I would bumble back to the stealer for a chat...

I get the same effect on my car. However, I've only noticed it whilst wearing sunglasses.

I don't think it's a fault as such Mence I think it's part of the process of making the Sunset glass.  As I said earlier it's looks the same as looking through the glass whilst wearing polaroid sunglasses.

Ok, no probs, just being overly cynical perhaps. :)

I don't have the sunset glass, but have the same pattern. Also had this on a previous BMW 330D, so it isn't something even limited to Skoda. Just kinda accepted that's the way it is.

Might be worth a trip to the dealers Mence, might put the OP's mind at rest but I would think the answer would be " Oh, they all do that " or " never seen that before "

Thanks, I'd been baffled by these, seen them on lots of cars and had them on my last car (mondeo) but not noticed them as much on my Octy.  Now i know its the tempering.  My guess is the spots are where the cooling air jets hit the hot glass.
