Brake Disc Size?

Featured Replies

Hi guys! Got problem, went through whole internet as wide and long it is and could not find what brake disc size I've got in my car??!! turns out there may be at least 3 different sizes form 288mm up to 345mm. is there any way to check it somewhere??

the car: 2008 Superb 2.0 TDI CR (170HP)

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

Yes there is someways to check, but to be sure and if you are changing them, whip the wheel off and measure them, then you know for sure before purchasing.

Thanks, was thinking that as well but got no place to do it and tomorrow midday going to change the brake caliper as its stuck. ECP is not far tough so might take disc off and hopefully they'll be still open ;)

If it's a CR170 it's almost certainly 312 mm for the fronts. Get the PR code from a dealer to be sure.

I tried to use Erwin to get the front disc pr code but Erwin refused to accept my credit card details.

I wont deal with my local dealer and wouldn't trust what they told me either so is there a techy way to find out or just have to measure?

Whip the wheel off and measure to be sure to be sure.... 10 minutes.

Recently discussing this with Black Diamond Performance for a brake upgrade on my 4x4 Estate.

The PR codes should be on the sticker in the boot floor.

Black Diamond advised 1ZA or 1LJ are the codes for 312x25mm front discs. 1KJ is 282x12mm for the rears.

To double check I had a large set of external calipers and was able to measure the disc diameter with the wheel in place by poking the legs through the wheel gaps.

A large steel rule then confirmed the 312 measurement on my car, nothing beats checking the actual size!

Cheers

others have said the front disc code is not on the boot options sticker, neither of those codes are on my 2012 combi 170bhp

Cut a U-shape out of cardboard with 312mm between the sides. Poke that tips-first through wheel gaps and see if it matches up.

  • 2 weeks later...

For information, My 2012 170bhp has 312mm front discs as others have stated.

independent changed both discs and pads for £187 (Delphi brand)
