I'd rather shove wasps up my arse...

  • But they are all on the 3 year old mark so no manufacturers warranty. Sure there are aftermarket warranties but they have more holes in them than swiss cheese.   You can be lucky and get a good one

Most people go for the mid-spec ambient of the higher spec Laureate.

Even the mid-spec now gets aircon.

My Logan, Sandero Estate version, had the Laureate spec but also the Renault MedNav system so it has the satnav, phone and USB music system in the 7 inch colour screen.

Only things I could not bare on the original spec has the skinny steering wheel so a Halfrauds steering wheel cover sorted that out and then I change the wheels from the 15" alloys to the 16" from Dacia Stepway and put 205 tyres of there which look more in proportion for the much bigger Logan ie 15 foot long Logan, also stiffens the handling a bit which is good.

Sandero/Logan etc based in the European car of the year Clio Mk 3, TCE 90 hp turbo petrol is great, pulls 4 adults, 600 litres of luggage no problem and up to 110 mph if wanted.

I do about 40K miles a year, share it between the Logan, Clio Mk 4 and motorbike, both the Dacia and Clio very comfortable and the Dacia quite with the slow revving turbo-petrol ie 3k revs at 75 mph.

Funny I get asked by a colleague with a BMW M series that we are going to a joint visit for me to take the Dacia rather than his BMW as it is a more comfortable ride than on his M-packed car with his run-flats.

I could run anything up to an XE/XF if I so wanted but why waste money when the Dacia does everything so well (I do not tow but if i did I would get a TCE Duster) but my caravan is 40ft long and static so no need.

Issue i have is that its £7800 for the TCE 90 engine / electric front windows.

For that price there are a ton of better cars in my opinion.

Please list

You really have to think that lol-lol has most of his vast pension fund invested in Dacia UK, no?

Looking at the Links Vauxhall Viva, Nissan and Hyhundi or Dacia......I know what I would be buying.

Just think what will be on the market when Vauxhall and peugeot start building cars together............................

Signalman at work bought a Ex Demo Insignia, after a couple of months he wanted to get rid, took it back to the same dealer and was offered only 40% of what he paid for it as a trade in. Even Vauxhall didn't want it back

Just checked and my firm and pension has no direct connection to Dacia but we do do much of the logistics for Renault in France I do admit but then we do also for Aston and McLaren as well and numerous other car firms.

Prefer to keep pension in bonds and ethical stocks so not sure than includes any car companies.  I would have thought cars stock is one to think carefully about as is one car purchases would be a casualty in a trade war.  One has got to eat etc so Defensive stocks might be wiser.

What a bunch of slow coaches.  Some paying high road tax, others little capacity to carry anything.

I know car (and bike) choices are very much one of required spec but much of the above is so compromised on performance and what space you get for your money it would be a nightmare for me doing long journeys and wanting to carry a goodly amount of stuff.

0-62 in almost 14 seconds, dullsville USA.  Paying over £100 a year road tax.   (Wonder how many thousands of cars are going be  pre-registered next month to ensure road tax of 30 quid or so per year rather than £140 a year ie costing £1K more over 7 years (unless it is an EV of course then it is zero).

Super happy with the Dacia and with most cars rising by £1k to £2K since BREXIT, Dacias went up £100, the difference is more marked than ever.

Just want either the 120hp 900cc TCE, (or a 160hp 1200 cc TCE !) used in the Smart Brabus, dropped into a Sandero and perhaps the 7 speed EDC gearbox.

Dacia reminds me so much of when I bought my first Skoda, a Felicia, back in '95, great value, great engines, shame VAG has fallen so far since the turn of the decade, but I hope for the Czech people they do not suffer with the downturn.   Dacia is moving more production to Morocco and other GSP countries so will be able to import in to the UK cheaper than from EU countries if/when the UK defaults to the EU external tariff.

Here is a Dacia with an engine borrowed from sister company Nissan ie the GTR engine tweaked to 850 hp for Pykes Peak...

Honestly, I think it's great that lol is so pleased with the car, however unfashionable.

In a similar vein I have to say, based on satisfaction per £ spent, my 12 year old Proton Wira diesel was probably the best car I've had.

As economical as any of our last 4 new cars, reliable, and with enough comfort and space to make it easily worth the £480 paid; it only cost £105 in depreciation over the 6 months I had it too.

The competition clip is pushing "Dacia" more than a bit though.

All those French ice-racing cars have the same V6 engines, 4WD 4WS Tubular chassis, and panels on the outside that may look like a major manufacturers product.

The number of Dacia parts in it is probably less than 1.

Duster shell.

Strengthened to the hilt with cross members.  But that is the beauty of Dacia being part of the 10m car a year nissan-renault group. Sandero chassis is a bit average is not as good as the mark 4 Clio which I would put up close to the ford chassis but you do get the benefit of Renault's up to date turbo petrol engine plus ESP as standard plus cheaper options like the satnav/media for only £250+vat!

Brand new with warranty etc?

If you are looking at used alternatives then at least compare them to a used Dacia

Someones pulling your pud...

Specialised rear engined space-frame with glass fibre look-alike panels...

It got a good result in the Unlimited class though coming in 3rd with a well quick time.

And the Dacia stickers might count as a Dacia branded part too

Not sure what warranty are on them, they are delivery miles on some, so would expect a warranty.

But what you are saying really is that your buying a warranty over a car?  If thats the case why are all the Citago owners here not driving Kia Picanto's with their 7 year warranty?

Presume warranty is from date of registration so some of the manufacturers warranty will already be nibbled up.

Dacias only have a 3 year /60,000 mile warranty like the crappy, tight VAG warranty whereas Renaults have 4 years, 100K miles like Vauxhall etc I point out for balance.

Hmm i dont think thats correct, Dacia if you buy on finance have 5 year. People then go home and pay off full. So they get the 5 years. http://offers.dacia.co.uk/cars/sandero

Yes I think they throw in 5 years but you still only get 60k miles, no good to me as I did 30K miles in the first year of my Logan ownership, like VAG I think you can buy more miles if you think you are going to do it.  I have only done about 5k in the last 9 months and put 20K on the Clio which has the 100K warranty and free servicing as standard and is a 13 plate so I need to use it or lose it.

Dacia finance is not very cheap, they make little money on the car, dealer margins are only a few percent and Dacia are chucking in £500 discount off the already low price.  I went PCP and then will probably but the car for less than £3k at the end of the lease as a runabout. With the value of nearly new cars surging as new cars become increasingly unaffordable, same thing happened in 2008, should be win-win. Happy days.

Not for me no, as at that point the two year old used car becomes more attractive as it'll also have a years warranty left on it.

£5,000 for 5 years hassle free motoring under warranty? At this point I really don't care what badge is on the bonnet.

Remember it wasn't that long ago when almost everyone turned their noses up at Skoda.

I have said the exact same thing many times in reference to Dacia perhaps being the new Skoda. Then I think to myself, a Skoda taken under VW's wing is a much different animal than anything taken under Renaults..... That said I am still genuinely tempted and keep looking at Sandero Stepways, I just can't help it I am a more traditional tight Skoda owner! If both my Skoda's died on me, I'd likely just go out and buy a new Sandero, or an ex demo one, failing that a low mileage used Superb 2.0 TDi.
