Right, I've come to the conclusion..............

I kinda agree. I loved my Mk1 Vrs. I then went to the fabia twin charged and although it was fun a tad expensive to run with oil and petrol.. Back to the Octavia VRS face lift diesel now got a Mk3 Diesel VRS I love the gadgets in the MK3 but miss the power and drive of the MK1 .  OHH and the price   15000 to 27000 IS a bit of a hike

There is a growing number of Briskoda members that have had Mk1 Fabia, Mk2, Octavia vRS etc now getting VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI 192 ps.

Available widely new but pre registered for the same price or less than a Mk2 Fabia vRS / VW Polo GTI was in 2010.

Having had a mk1 Fabia vrs and mk2 Fabia vrs I have to agree the mk1 is more fun to drive

ahem....... with the greatest respect to the MkI Fabia vRS. It's not the best MkI Fabia. The MkI 1.9TDi PD 100 Elegance is. End of.

Heated seats, heated mirrors, cushioned arm rests, a boot release located in the cabin. And then remapped to 155bhp which makes it more powerful than a standard vRS.

Unfortunate that the Mk1 Fabia was so ugly inside.

You're thinking about the Octavia Mk1 with rose tinted glasses. It was tinny, basic and not a patch on the Mk3.

A Mk3 VRS is a significantly better car than a Mk1 VRS.

Unfortunate that the Mk1 Fabia was so ugly inside.

Looks are subjective. It was cheap and practical. The essence of Skoda.

The original Cosmic Beige was hideous though and the option to have the lower dash and trim in beige with the upper in charcoal wasn't to everybody's taste lol

What's wrong with the 230 Andy?  :(

Did the other 24 have a coat of paint on ?  :D

I'm not saying your wrong Mr Goldfinger but if you had to chop your modern cars in and go back to/ live with the older cars you will probably find them rubbish compared to the standard we are at now.

Like when we all moan about modern cars going wrong and old cars of many years ago were really super reliable because they had less technology and never let you down. This is also complete rubbish, go back to the 60's and 70's when I wasn't even born and you were lucky if you could start the thing on a cold morning, or so I've been told anyway..........

I guess my point is that you always remember them to be better than what they are.

best skoda ever = the one i'm driving right now

in fact you could go as far as saying its the best car on the market today (based on criteria and weightings obviously decided only by myself).

opinions vary obviously, just saying (i'm right though)

I've had, or me and Mrs G have had every variant of the Vrs, both Octavia and the Fabia and I have decided the best ever Octavia Vrs was the Mk1,and the best ever Fabia Vrs by a country mile was the 130PD. ( we have had 25+ Skodas between us )

The End

A lot of car for the money - I absolutely adored Mk1 Fabia vRS. Thinking back I bought a 2 year old one in 2007 with 18,000 miles for £10k. I remember telling my mates I'd bought a diesel Skoda...my how they laughed, until I put it in second and booted it haha.

After a few months I had mine remapped by Superchips...the best thing was just seeing the likes of souped up Corsa's, Clio 182's etc just disappeared into the distance. The shove through 2nd and 3rd was just hilarious looking back, it felt SO fast.

Nothing wrong with the 230 Gaz, I love it. But I really like a few of the old/older cars.

Looked at the mk1 Fabia VRS, it was a nice little car, but a mk4 Golf GT TDi was only a bit more...a bit bigger and a much nicer interior...no hard plastics.

I've just got rid of my PD130 VRS. Great car, but not as good as the VW Bora I had with the same engine.
