YETI replacement seats

Featured Replies

Has anyone changed their front seats to something a little more supportive? The standard seats are ok but I'm noticing a fair bit of wear on the driver seat on the lower part of the back rest and it got me thinking of changing them. Golf GTi seats would be nice, anyone know if they fit?

I guess side airbags aren't an issue to consider.

Anything is possible if you have enough time to make it fit, it would really depend upon whether there were any electrical connections such as side airbags mentioned above. There was a thread a few months ago on the Octavia 3 forum where someone had changed the entire seats in their car for seats from a scrapped Audi A3 but that took quite a bit of work to make it all fit well. Saying that it was remarkably good up front with perfect fitted seats and in the back there was only a tiny gap at either end of the rear seats.

I'm only interested in changing out the front seats, the rears are great for their adaptability. Given VAG's propensity to reuse parts from the parts catalogue, ideally the chosen replacement seats would be plug and play. I'll start researching the seats in the new year, maybe I'll get lucky.

Did you ever make any progress with this?  In spite of being fitted with what are ostensibly the 'best' seats, i.e. electrically adjustable (for the driver), heated leather, I don't find the driver's seat in my 2016 SE L drive to be very supportive or comfortable.  It'd be good to find a better alternative that is a reasonably straightforward fit.  I've just been looking at an ad for some Audi RS5 seats which look nice but which I suspect would be difficult to fit and make work in the car.

Would a Karoq seat fit? My new cars seat is electric and could well be straight plug in for use in a Yeti with electric seat?

it is definitely more comfortable than my previous Yeti with electric seat.

You may find one at a breaker’s

Thanks for this.  Yes, possibly.  I agree with you about the relative levels of comfort between the Yeti and Karoq seats.  The leather seats in my wife's Karoq 190 TDI are certainly much better than the ones in my Yeti.

However, I suspect that it's more likely that Mk1 Tiguan seats would fit the Yeti since both cars are based on Golf Mk5/6 floorpans rather than the later MQB platorm that the Karoq sits on.

Also looking for replacement front seats - have been trying to shape a foam block to fit the base (and me) but it's proving to be a simple idea but in practice difficult to get the desired result !

Might be worth looking into Audi Q3 parts too, as I think that shared the same floorplan as the original Yeti.

Maybe some info to be gleaned by comparing parts in online parts catalogues ?

Just for example:

7zap Yeti parts - scroll down the bottom of here and you'll see sections relating to seats (I picked a 2014 Yeti, change as necessary): https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/yeti/yet/2014-779/8/

7zap Audi parts - same for a 2014 Q3: https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+q3/aq3/2014-728/8/

I had a Yeti L & K up until last March, nice car but not very comfortable seats; I always felt that I was perched on top of the drivers seat rather than sitting in it. They always seemed a bit too small for comfort but guess that depends on your height etc as to what is comfortable. The seats in my Octavia are much more comfortable than those in the Yeti ever were and those are just plain SE spec seats at that but with the one essential extra of heated seats!

Precisely.  At c. 5' 9" and 72 kg (yeah, I know mixed units....) I'm by no means a big guy.  However, that's exactly how I feel.  I could also do with a bit extra side bolster support as I hurtle round corners courtesy of 185 bhp and the inside front brake nipping the wheel courtesy of XDS.

I'm around 6 ft 1, plenty of headroom inside the Yeti but they probably made the seats a bit smaller to make the car feel a bit more spacious inside as the Yeti is by no means a big car. Saying that some cars are worse, I had a Saab 93 for a while as a hire car years ago after an accident; it felt like they'd chopped off the front part of the seat somehow, with very little support for the underside of your legs that were left dangling!
