Hey folks,

 

I'm wondering if anyone has had their standard vRS alloy wheels and/or exhuast tips painted?

 

Here is my Mk3 vRS and I'm thinking that the Pictoris wheels and exhuast tips would look good painted in anthracite or perhaps even black. Has anyone done this? Pictures would be awesome.

To be fair, I love the idea of the 230 but I'm not sure it would be practical for me.

Skoda did my 19" extremes gloss black.

I wasn't sure how black wheels on the Race Blue would look, but I like that! Where in Lancashire are you from?

For me, glossy black is a no-no, but there are many dark greyish colours that would work with Race Blue.

 

If the OP has any decent refurbishers in their locality, visit then & see what they can offer.

 

I scrubbed a front wheel on my Superb in '13 & the new (powder coat) colour is just a little darker than the original,

but that's on a silver car, anything too dark would look wrong.

The 230 Exaust tips are Satin Black, they look really smart I would think gloss black  might be a over the top

I very nearly bought a vRS TDI hatch on 19's before christmas and as part of the deal was getting the wheels refinished gloss black....sale fell through and I bought a 1.8 TSI Polo GTI instead.

Slightly off topic, but having had a Fabia vRS TSI previously followed by a number of diesels inc. a Mk2 FL Octavia vRS Blackline DSG estate, 2 x Mk7 GTD Golfs and also a Mk3 Octavia 2.0 150 TDI manual estate......the Polo (and I am sure frankly most TSI motors...certainly the higher output ones) are pretty pap on fuel.

Driving the Polo like a nun Ive seen about 42mpg from it....driving it normally mid 30's is good going. On a short run its often in the 20's.....economy seems dire when not warmed up, around town or if you end up stuck in stop start traffic.

By comparison my GTD's would pretty much return 40mpg no matter how they were drive and could easily see late 40's early 50's on a run...towards 60 if driven carefully.

TBF the TSI motor is far nicer, and thats coming from someone who does like diesels.....its smooth, has diesel like torque at lower RPMs which continues through a useful part of the rev range, far sharper responsiveness and it actually sounds nice when extended.....but I do perhaps 25/30k per year and whilst I love the thing Id argue a TSI probably isnt the most cost effective means of transport if you cover some miles unless you do drive v carefully everywhere.

Mine is just about paying for itself on the mileage front when used for work, my Octavia I did v well out of.
