Hi all,

 

I bought a highline rear view camera (http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/rear-view-cameras-12/oem-rvc-mqb-rear-view-camera/) from this site. I installed it but it is not coded. I have mailed these guys multiple times and have not got a response. Just flat out ignoring me!

Does anyone know if I have any legal recourse etc?

try finding someone in Ireland with VCP to fix the problem

You need to code the car and the camera to work. They're not plug & play. You have VCDS (or access to it) by the look of things, so have you tried coding it?

 

The camera (and many new units in fact) will come uncoded and it's all required to be done at the installation stage. That's not anyone's responsibility but yours or the installer.

 

Edit: I was also going to suggest Ross Tech forum, but it now appears you're already under advice from there.

VCDS can't do it

 

VCP is required

VCDS worked for mine, on a 2016 Octavia. Is it different for a Superb?

For some reason I was not get notified of updates here. Looks like I will have to get a vcp setup but I wonder how pistonbroke managed it? Anyone with VCP in Galway area? If not I guess there might be soon :-(

unless the item is faulty its not really there problem.

the problem is your skills/equipment to fit it.

ive bought a few things from them and they all come uncoded so unless you have the necessary software to code it it wont work.

They sold it claiming VCDS was all that was needed. Anyways the issue here is the lack of response. It took me 2 weeks to get a response form my first 10 emails. Then I got give instructions for how to install it with VCDS from them. When I replied over a week ago they sent in last couple days saying (and I am quoting!) - 

"Hi You need go to VW dealer for on-line. On-line system will load sw to camera. Or you need vcp vag Can programmer"

 

So why send me the instructions in the first place etc? 

 

Anyways - I am going to try and source someone to do it for me. I just wish it was not the best part of 3 months trying to get it going.

Anyone know where I can get a vcp vag connector? Googled a bit and don't see later skodas down as supported.

Ah. I think that is the lowline version. Not sure it needs as much coding.
