Winter's I'm guessing?

In his post he clearly states photo's are 17" winter alloys (saving the 20" wheels for nicer weather).

Superb III to Kodiaq convert here. Took delivery of a 190 TSi L&K in brilliant silver on Monday, with ACC and virtual cockpit. No pictures as yet as it's done little but rain since it arrived, and it's now covered in mud....

Very pleased in many respects, but slightly disappointed by some of the cost-cutting that skoda seem to have done over the last couple of years.

I noticed this a few months ago when the wife's Karoq SEL was in for its first FREE service I checked a Kodiaq in the showroom (not sure which model) but I couldn't see or feel where the extra money had gone except in the boot with the extra 2 seats. Nothing looked or felt any better quality than the much cheaper Karoq which cost £23,500 new in January 2018. Wife even has picnic tables as standard in the back not that we have ever used them and the handy reversing camera (also standard on her model).

Yeah, I can't speak from Karoq experience, but the interior quality is a step down from my 2016 Superb. There are some surprising things missing like warning lights in the doors, door handle lighting etc. More scratchy plastics around too.

Agree my recently bought used 19 plate Superb is a step up in quality over the already good Karoq and much nicer than the built down to a price (budget) feel of the Kodiaq IMHO.

The Superb is Skoda's flagship, so it's reasonable to me that the Kodiaq's interior quality isn't quite on the Superb's level. The only thing I find ridiculous about interior materials is the lack of soft touch plastic on top of the rear door cards.

These are the latest cost cutting initiatives from Skoda on the Kodiaq, you can bet your bottom dollar there'll be similar activities going on with the Karoq too...

  • Option codes for 17"/18" wheels changed
  • Removal of door safety lights, now replaced with reflectors
  • Removal of passenger side footwell net
  • Removal of chrome on window switches
  • Removal of rear door sill plates
  • Removal of net program in boot
  • Removal of removable flashlight in boot
  • Removal of seat rail covers
  • Footwell lighting no longer standard, now only included with ambient lighting package
  • Exterior mirror lighting is now only available with electric memory front seats
  • Interior rear-view mirror now always black instead of headliner colour
  • 5 seater: two bag hooks instead of four
  • 7 seater with spare wheel: removal of cover under loading floor
  • Sleep Package: One blanket now included instead of two
  • Umbrella: only one included instead of two
  • Sportline/RS: rear badges now black
  • Sportline: air vent frames now black instead of chrome
  • RS/L&K/Scout: Removal of logos on rear seat rows
  • RS: Change to Dynamic Sound Boost in different driving modes
  • RS: Frame in front seat backrests now in black instead of red

It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the Kodiaq is more expensive than the Karoq, it is a significantly bigger car.

Simply clever? More like simply cost cutting.

i ordered mine at the weekend and the order form said my L&K has the logo on the seats.  You think I might be affected?

if it comes with less than I was expecting then I presume I can reject the car.

These cost cutting measures were supposed to have been introduced during week 48, 2019, so roughly week commencing the 25th November.

If your order is a factory build (as opposed to one from stock) then it is highly likely you'll lose out on the L&K logo's on the rear seats, the front seats are unaffected.

Unfortunately Skoda display disclaimers every where explaining that specification changes can be made without warning.

When I first read your post I didn’t notice it specified just the rear seat.  Not sure I expected it on the rears.

i was shown a Kodiaq with the torch in the boot this weekend so I think that’s a bit misleading.  The world won’t end if I lose out on a 20p torch 😛 lol

Look at the spec brochure. It has been updated to reflect these things ... 1 umbrella,  1 sheet, no mention of a torch, etc.

However, in the spec it say net system is included.

I expect the car to be as stated in the apec sheet. If it's not then I will negotiate compensation or reject the car.

I was also looking at the main brochure as another point of reference but there's fine print everywhere saying images might not be UK spec.

The torch in the boot is a bit of a gimmick, much like the ice scraper behind the fuel filler flap.

The torch on my mobile phone is brighter. I tried to use it on bonfire night when trying to find the firework fuses in the pitch black, it isn't much use at all.

I guess it'll provide just enough light to locate the jacking point and wheel bolt caps.

If it's cold enough to need to scrape the windscreen then chances are the fuel filler flap will also be frozen shut!

Some of this stuff is there purely to support Skoda's 'Simply Clever' marketing strap line.

The door protectors are another example, great for protecting other people's car, but less so yours. Luckily these have gone the distance too as they were notoriously weak and expensive to fix.

The main one I'd notice are the red LED's in the bottom of the doors. When combined with the puddle lights built into the underside of the door mirrors they work quite well. My previous MkIII Octavia Scout just had non-illuminated red reflectors in the doors and I remember thinking they looked cheap.

I actually quite like the ice scraper in my Fabia. Used it every winter the last few years, plenty of times the screen was frozen and the filler cap still opened. Happy it is still around for when I get my Kodiaq.

Make the most of it, if Skoda carry on down the path of cost reduction it'll soon be removed.

Hmm, indeed.

Just took a look at the list of removals for MY20, out of the list I'm most annoyed by onlt having 1x umbrella (might just keep the one from my Fabia if the holder is still there in the passenger door) and the replacement of the door lights with reflectors (as I wanted to get those KODIAQ projectors fitted)

And here's me moaning about my MY17. Which has all the bits n bobs deleted from MY20. I think I'll keep my counsel.

Hi All,

Just picked up our Kodiaq vRS last weekend, couldn't be happier with it! It's mainly for the Mrs but will be the default family wagon as well at the weekends.
Not new to Skoda (or Briskoda), we previously had an Octavia vRS TDI Estate back in 2014 for a year and loved that too.

I run www.editionnoggy.club though so we normally have a fleet of Nogaro blue Audi's, but a tractor wrote off my 2016 S8 in November (not fun!) and the Kodiaq ticked all the boxes with 7 seats, performance, price etc so it's now the odd one out on the drive! I have to say I love the quartz grey, it has some lovely green/blue tones which I'd not appreciated until taking delivery.

Picked it up from Preston Skoda (long way from me, but worth it for the deal and impeccable service offered), enjoyed the long drive home getting to know the car and finding my way through all the menus and settings!

It's since been tucked up in the garage having had a couple of days of detailing and ceramic coating which then had to cure, but finally today it's been allowed out!

Only disappointment so far has been that my genuine Hex-CAN VCDS cable doesn't work as it's a MY19+ car. So I'll have to find a local VCDS enthusiast with Hex-V2 or Hex-NET to enable the rear lights as DRL's. I'm not going to update to Hex-NET until the new Gen2 with DoIP is released later this year.

Looking forward to getting to know the car and y'all better over the next few years!

Couple of pics here for you

Great looking vRS, they always look amazing when they're clean!

I have to say though, those number plates spoil it for me, the carbon effect font, border and most of all the 'Halfords' St. George's flag sticker diverts the eyes for all the wrong reasons.

Yea the plate wouldn’t be my typical choice but it’s branding for my Wife’s business (has the website in the slogan at the bottom too). So it’s kinda the point that it stands out.

How do you like the black skoda logo on the tailgate?

My vRS is also MY2020 (built Nov. 2019) and it arrived with the shiny logo. But the car is crystal black colour, so the contrast looks pretty good.
