Brake Pads need to replace them

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Thanks to this forum, my husband and I have both managed to replace the brake light switch and reverse light switches. Now, our brake pads/discs are worn. We have watched videos on how to replace them, but if anyone wants to share any that would be great.

How do we go about getting the right brake pads for our 2004 Skoda Fabia 1.2?

Thanks,

Becky

You'll need a 7mm Allen key or socket which you'll need to get especially, other than that just bang your reg. number into eurocarparts website and buy the front pads without wear sensor listed for your car, discs are 256mm vented, I'd recommend you swerve the Eicher parts and pay the bit extra for Pagid or Brembo quality.

The rest is gravy.

Just thought I'd add, I've had eicher discs and pads and have done 7,000 miles since and no significant wear.

They stop well and don't  seem to fade. Not that a 1.2 is going to be able to work them hard anyway.

I have no reservations about recommending them although I've not tried the pagid or brembos.

Also like to point out my original discs and pads had loads of life left in them but couldn't stop the car properly for some reason.

As has been said type your reg into ECP and select the 256mm discs.

Mine used Torx bolts to hold the discs on and if i remember 13mm bolts on the callipers

Easy job to do providing nothing is seized or snaps- but i would say only do the job if you know what you are doing as brakes are quite important.

Discs may be 239, rather than 256mm. Giveaway is the caliper will have FSII on it (on the outward facing bit) in this case, rather than the FSIII if 256mm.

Because of this possibility, ECPs lookup by reg is of limited use without checking first which your car has.

I thought 239's were only fitted to the 1.4 8V, the horror, 256's are barely sufficient on my 1.4 16V.

Edit: My opinion about Eicher parts is based upon having to fettle pad backplates due to sticking because the backplate was slightly oversize and jammed in the carrier, the pad material is very soft and the discs warp. Otherwise I have no issues with them.

Thinking about it I think they may very well be 239mm I cant remember which I used will check them tomorrow. It would make sense for the 1.2 to have the tiny brakes.
