Hey up, old skool VW head converting to the dark side

Featured Replies

How do,

I'm not newbie so to speak, I've had my fair share of motors, more specifically Mk2 Golfs, but 2 kids, a wife, German shepherd and a mortgage put paid to that a long time ago.

Still always liked a car with a bit of punch. Current whip is a German Shepherd friendly Volvo V40 T4. But that's making way for the wife's Mk1 Fabia VRS, as her promotion at work means a company car is on the way come April.

Plans for the VRS are a healthy lowering, wheel refurbishment and some subtle performance enhancement, want a bit more oomph out of it while not going crazy.

Welcome!

I also have owned a Mk2 many moons ago. It was a GTI 16 valve, which got me drawn into the VAG scene.

Also owned a Mk1 Fabia vRS!

Hi Jon,

I'd have another Mk2 Golf in a heart beat, but it's a slippery slope with old cars and before I knew it i'd be knee deep in restoring it :D

Have to say I love the Fabia, the wife had a Lupo S before the Fabia and i'd been on at her to go for something with a bit of get up and go, but a diesel because she has fair commute each day, well going from the Lupo to the VRS was like night and day, I want to drive it at every opportunity, front tyres dont last long do they

The Golfs look nice! Is the last one a G60?

You had a Mk1 too! Always wanted a Mk1.

This was my Fabia vRS

The last one was my last one, it was an Edition One G60, the rarest of them all, never should have sold that, it was awesome, had been treated to a Jabbasport upgrade amongst other things, I took that pic after the KW coil overs had settled.

The Mk1 looked great, but was in need of a lot of work to keep it on the road, I bought that wearing rose tinted spectacles lol

Looked like a tidy one, black maybe the hardest colour to keep clean but boy do is come up good after a bit of elbow grease!!

I'm undecided on wheels, two of them need air in every other week (corrosion and poor seal after new tyres), they need a refurbished regardless, definitely going for a smoke grey though, not too dark. I thought I'd see more Skoda's running BBS split rims?
