Cheers I'm trying to buy one from somewhere but can't seem to find one. The only one I can find is for a 1.9 diesel. Looks the same as mine as I got a 1.2 petrol. You know if they're different in anyway?

Wait a moment, what do mean the 'brass ring' has shattered? It's a drive flange, they don't go wrong, do you mean the retaining circlip has broken and now it doesn't stay in place?

That's not my one. Mine is in about 6 peces

Christ, this is like pulling teeth, yes, if the gearbox is the same then the drive flange will fit, engine type doesn't matter.

VW would need a very good reason to retool and change such a generic part. That 'brass ring' is just a thrust washer designed to squash enough so that there is no endfloat once the circlip has engaged, hence the slots.

Don't the diesels use M10 bolts?

Will find a part number for you after lunch. What year is your car?

Looks like it might only be the vRS diesels that use M10 drive flanges.

You can buy that bit that's broken separately according to this page (item 11 - 020409374) might be worth getting a price tomorrow morning from your local dealer/TPS?

I think it's only the six-speed boxes that use different flanges, the fives should all be the same.

Okay. Do you know if this is an official skids part number?
