Hello everybody,

I've got a little problem again.

So my horn didn't work.

- I check fuse N.-17 : No problem.

- I check voltage at the horn, and I got 10v, not 12v. Why ?

- After that I check the horn it self on the battery and it work.

If some of you have any ideas....

Thanks.

Hi Nimbus, it sounds like a bad connection - is there only a single power connection to the horn? Check that the securing bolt is fastening down to clean metal as bad earth connections can give very strange readings.

Hi Warrior193,

There is 1 wiring for the power supply of the horn. The second wiring is the earth.

Well I will try that, thanks.

If you measured 10 V at the horn terminal when pressing the horn button, it is either a wiring issue (is the wiring in one piece?) or a poor ground issue.

Hi Ricardo,

Good question, and I find the problem. The wiring is in two pieces, and there was a bad connection. ( see pictures )

Thanks for the help.

The lesson we learned from this topic is this: if possible replace the entire length of a broken wire, especially when there are high currents involved. If the broken wire can't be replaced, crimp or solder the ends and protect the area with heat shrink tubing that has glue inside. It is vital to seal exposed wires from the elements.

It's always a potential problem area where there are joints in wiring. And so much fun (not) in tracking them down.
