Dashboard/centre console rattle/ Fabia VRs

Featured Replies

Has anybody had this problem, sounds like its coming from underneath the stereo??? its bloody anoying :(

I think i have that too now

I have only clocked up 6000 miles (55Plate)

Ant ideas what it could be any one?

And me makes 3. Mine is from the glovebox lid and at low'ish revs and the only way to shut it up is either keep the lid down or just pull the handle slightly which shuts it up for a while. 8K miles so at the 10K service it will be right at the top of my list for the dealer. :o

Windy, I had the exact same centre consule rattle on my 12 month old Vrs first thing in the morning it started and as the car heated up the rattle stoped it was sending me nuts. I took out the centre vents and followed the instructions on the Briskoda Fabia forum on how to cure this problem by packing the dash centre mount with some rubber etc..

Why are you bothering, get rid of one and you will get another, enough to drive you mad. Simple law of physics, moving parts/fixtures and fittings + rough bumpy british roads = rattles/vibrations etc........live with it or go insane, your choice.

It could be the wiring loom for the stereo.

mine is comming from around the stearing wheel. i have it booked in next week for fixing. the one around the stereo sounds like the problem people have with the dash board mount. Something to do with it comming loose. skoda have a fix for it or at least thats what the technican said to me when he came out in my car to hear my rattle. He did say it was the older Vrs though pre face lift.

Have to agree. I have similar rattles to the ones described here, yet get on a nice smooth A-road or Motorway and everything is fine, all nice and refined, the only sound you can hear is the engine in the background.

Get it on a typical British road and the car sounds like it will drop to bits at any second.

This was the same senario with my previous car, a Jag, and the one before that a BMW.

Which sort of proves what I have often said on here, that even 'prestige' cars suffer, it simply can't be avoided;)

30k on the clocks and no rattles here, 05 reg ;)

Mine had a rattle/noise then it went away?

Now it has another which I am certain is coming from the steering column area, if I pull down on the wheel it will stop. So probably the reach/rake affecting some trim as I recently altered the setting.

Oh and its a 55 plate with 5K.

sounds like mine will post when they have found the problem hopefully a week on monday

I have a passenger side rattle/buzz on rough roads like John said. Sounds like its coming from the suspension strut- as though something has come loose :-| But I hope its internal and not related to the suspension (that I fitted :o)

UPDATE!!1

Car booked into Telfords in Carlisle on the 14th for them to investigate, the drivers seat now squeeks and the exterior front passengers door handle is now loose, must be due to all the bumpy cumbrian roads hopefully his will be sorted at the same time, cant wait to borrow their curt car, a fabia sport!!!!

My dashpod was creaking recently and I found that the flappy bit of trim which sort of wedges on top of the steering column, was a bit loose. So I pushed it in a bit harder :naughty:  and it wedged itself in further under the dashpod and was silent. :D

This bit of trim is always worth checking as its not bolted in. (unclips to reveal two t20 torx bolts behind which undo to release the actual dashpod :))
