For anyone with doubts on the 2.0 TDI BKD (PD) engine

Featured Replies

I've just bought an Audi A3 on 04 plate with that engine in - 263,000 miles but driving like something much less.

I know the BKD is renowned for its weak turbo and other things, but this little gem (only £500) appears to buck the trend.  It's a well serviced model too - which no doubt helps.  I am going to do an oil change once it flies through today's MOT. (fingers crossed)

Bonus that the car is my favourite colour black, and has bose and cruise.  I'll be aiming to polish up properly and apply a ceramic coating for durability.

It's sadly become a big deal to remark on a diesel having survived and thriving after 263,000 big ones.

I'm not having a 'go' ......just sad that it's become somewhat remarkable.

The price of clean air.

Loved the engine and in my view the best 4 cylinder diesel VAG produced.  Please do not produce too much smoke or other nasties as I have just bought a caravan a mile away in Devon Cliffs and with the prevailing SW'erlies it will be wafting over the site.

I think they are all the 1968 cc whether VW call it a 1.9 or 2.0D.  I like the PD clatter and thought common rail was a backward step, although quieter. Had a 1.9D in A3 and A4s and loved them both, as well as the Mk 1 Fabia VRS and a couple of Octys.  Last diesel engines I owned, was forced to drive a 2 litre CR for while, and I suspect that last diesel I will ever own.

No EV points in Exmouth sadly, plenty in Exeter of course, hopefully we are getting one or two at Devon Cliffs (UK's no1 holiday park second year running!).  I will keep an eye out for both your cars when zipping through Exmouth.

Fuel cell will replace diesels

Seen it on the ZAP map.

The best type two chargers look to be at Sainsbury on the East side of Exeter where there are a bank of three 22 Kw ones.  I am thinking of getting the R90 Zoe which can only use up to the 22 Kw rather than the Q90 which can charge at 43 Kws.  Devon a bit short of charge points hence hoping to get ones at Devon cliffs and Exmouth so I can charge up when I shop/stay.
