Strut Braces (again)

Featured Replies

Hello,

Seeing as I've just spent out for the rear ARB and now have less money than sense, which isn't much anyway:

I'm fancying a strut brace for the upper front. And searching seems to have narrowed it to the Forge Ibiza one or the SeatSport one. Both are around the same price. If I got the Seat one it'd be sprayed green, the Forge one would be naked as it was born. The Momo one looks very tasty, but at double the price I'm out.

The question (finally) is to do with Adjustability. Forge's is, Seat's isn't. Is there a difference? What is the adjustment actually for? Does it make it easier to put on/take off. And does it work in a way that can adjust how stiff it gets, or what?

Infact any info on adjustable vs fixed would be welcome before I buy another metal bar for the car.

Cheers!

Whatever you get for the front, you need to get one for the rear as well!

Get on the group buy!

I thought the SeatSport one was Momo? I went for that one as it was a VAG part and my mate works for Seat so it was easy to get it for a good price.

This is the tasty Momo one I like. Don't know if the Seat one is the regular MOMO one restickered though?

The standard MOMO ones are similar though, so it may be?

Wouldn't 'dicking' around with the tension alter (albeit slightly) the alignment of the front suspension?

I put the Seat one on last weekend. Went on like a dream. Miles of clearance over the airbox.

The SEAT one is made by MOMO.

This is my thought, thats why I'm out for some info

Does anyone know if the "tasty" momo one actually fits?

Says it fits the Ibiza. I think someone on here has it fitted, sure I saw it in a search a while back?

£89.99 from Motorsportworld.co.uk though. Compared to the £50ish of the others.

I believe the red Seat one and the red MOMO ones are painted steel and the MOMO Airblack one (tasty) and the Forge ones are polished Alloy. Still not sure which ones best though?... *hint* *hint* ;)

Edit: Now just seen it for £50. So I have 3 to choose from, great!

I fitted a Seat sport Brace two-three weeks ago, bought it direct from a Seat Dealer for fifty three english pounds.

Here it is sprayed green and fitted;

Took about 20 mins, there is a recent thread somewhere....

As for the tasty one, I've seen it listed ona couple of sites (other than awesome gti) as only fitting ibizas up to 2002. They list red momo ones for 2002 up ibizas, but not the black and silver one. Someone tell me I'm wrong...please.

Mmmm, tasty indeed!

Belive this is Shiftys car?? or was? Either way he posted i' date=' Guess it fits.

Yeah, I was talkin' to him today about it. Asked him about the '****in' the alignment' thing. He said he just tighthened it enough to bite ie, not overtight.

It's whatever, but honestly, the basic one's fine.

Thing is the 'basic' one is now the same price as the Forge Alloy one and the MOMO alloy one. So I'm still stuck with whether adjustable is better than non-adjustable?

Think I'm leaning toward the Alloy ones just to save putting more weight over the front wheels?

So if you get the seat strutt brace for the front do you really have to upgrade the rear with a strutt bar too?

I fancied getting the standard red seat one for the front to try and keep both wheels planted when cornering hard, but not if I have to do any other mods too.....

You dont need the rear one - the front one is a straight fit :)

who makes a rear one?

is it listed as fabia or is it an ibiza or polo one.

i tried searchin cant find
