I want to buy a Chinese VCDS for my Skoda Octavia 1.9 PD Pre PL (2008 Model).

 

The dealer mentioned the software is not up gradable.. 

 

VAG COM 16.8.3 VAGCOM 16.8 VCDS HEX CAN USB Interface VAG 16.8 FOR VW AUDI Skoda Seat (German/English)

 

Will it work with my car ? Can i go for it?

This is clearly a copy and cannot be guaranteed to work with your car.

 

If you purchase the Ross-Tech interface it will work and be up-gradable.

 

Would you trust the information and changes from this copy?

 

It's impossible to say, cloned cables vary in quality.

 

If you want VCDS, buy a genuine version. The official distributors in India are listed here: http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.php

 

If you want a cheaper solution, something like OBDeleven may be able to help depending what you're trying to achieve.

I'm not in a situation to spend big amount for the Ross tech original.. my expectation is , I want to scan the errors and trouble shoot in case of any issues.

Once i bought a OBD dongle which works with Mobile Phone via bluetooth and wifi.. but it was not compatible with my car as it was not scanning any errors..

I'm not sure.. and i don't have good knowledge about VCDS.. I want a cheaper solution to scan my cars for any errors and troubleshoot. 

If you can't afford genuine VCDS, you certainly can't afford to repair any damage a cloned interface might cause.

 

Consider buying a dongle from https://obdeleven.com/ it's much cheaper than VCDS, should work with a pre-FL and there is less chance of damaging anything.

 

Plenty of people use it on the forums so it should be ideal for scanning for errors etc.
