Yeti light problem

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I have a story to tell, I will try to keep it as short as possible.

I have a Yeti elegance TDi 2016. While driving on a motorway I hit one of those rubber cones with plastic light on top, and my light got broken (just the front, xenon lights still working, LED strip as well) I went to a third party garage, they bought an original brand new light and fitted it. And the LED light wasnt working, garage told me to go to skoda salon and check everything because they dont know what is wrong. I booked a service in one Skoda dealer, they said that its not a new light that was fitted. I got back to the garage that fitted the lamp demanding new light or money back. They insisted that I book a service in a second Skoda dealer because the supplier that the light was bought from is supplying that dealer, and it will be easier to resolve the issue.

After service visit at the second one, they said that the light was new, and there was a but cup left off and there is water in the lamp now. (this is fault of  first Skoda dealer) and they suspect water damage to the control unit is the issue. I tried to explain that the old lamp before replacing was working fine.

They recommend to fit a new control unit to check if its working, but they dont have one in stock and I they dont know if they can order one for testing.

For the past 10 months I cant get an answer what is wrong with the light and who`s fault is it. I cant get them to call me back for weeks.

Any ideas what I can do?

In my opinion the first garage that fitted the replacement light should be sorting it not sending you round the houses.
If they could not fit the new light they should have said.

Could it be the new lamp wants coding to the car?

It would be interesting to know what they charged for fitting a Bi-Xenon headlight as they are about £500.

Agree with what is said above.

I would write to the garage stating that either they get the car repaired correctly or you will take it to a Skoda dealer of your choice, het them to repair it, and send them the bill. if they do not pay then take them to Court.

And goes to prove why you shouldn't let a third party garage who don't know what they are doing, deal with a car whilst it still under warranty,

Gently does it, its the OP's first post, and I bet that penny has dropped already.

Legally, your gripe is with the garage that did the work, they have no get out of jail free card, a small claims court doesn't cost that much and you would definitely win.

Thanks WFM.

That is what I did.

I went to a skoda garage and told them to find what is wrong. They found that the control module for the light was damaged.

Ive asked to a quote, and took it to the garage that fitted new light, and they had no other way than pay for it.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers.

Glad it's sorted MARTN. All's well that ends well I suppose.
