Columbus V14 map updates

Featured Replies

Hi all, I am new to Skoda having just purchased a 2013 (pre-face lift) Superb Elegance Combi. Having gone through a number of threads it appears that my maps are out of date on my Columbus, I believe them to be V9 (7918) I noticed that V14 is now available from various outlets can anyone recommend one of these and has anyone had this update and should i be concerned that it may upset my HU?

Thank you in advance

Anyone selling the maps cheaply is probably selling a pirated copy, and if you're going to use a pirate copy there are cheaper (perhaps free) ways to do it that cannot be talked about on a public forum such as this.

Dealers can supply the update on DVD but many will claim that you can't update your unit. Some members have purchased the DVD and may be willing to loan it or meet you to update your unit.

The main reason for updating maps is to get the latest mapping data. You have to decide how important this is to you. V9 maps date back to Q1 2012, so they're 5 years out of date. How much of an issue that is depends on how much the roads you use have changed in that time. A map update is unlikely to brick your unit unless there's a fault with the hard drive on it.

Thanks Chimaera, 5 years out of date is very noticeable in my area so I will look for an update

Thank you

They're easy to find on well-known auction sites. I paid c. £18.

Also easy to find for downloading and burning yourself on other sat-nav/GPS forums too.

Try out GPS Underground and the RNS 510 section there. Thats where I found the file to burn to a dual layer DVD. Hope this helps.
