retro fit trip computer

Featured Replies

Hi. hope posted in right section.. new to forum... is it possible to retro fit trip computer on octavia 2 classic ( doesnt come with it ).. is it as simple as changing the stalk and re programming ? or more than that.. any advice appreciated... Thanks

This should be the correct section. Welcome to the Briskoda forums.  Probably a change of the stalk and new clocks, but await someone with more detailed experience.

May be helpful to confirm what country you are in and even a photo of the clocks (dash) instruments may also be useful.

As no one else responded yet.  Looks like indeed you should look at sourcing and fitting another set of clocks, with trip computer included. Probably a maxidot display set.  There is a fair bit of information on these threads, here are two which have some information.

I think there are three variants for the FL:

- no trip computer

- trip computer

- maxidot trip computer

If I recall, the two non maxidot options share a cluster, the difference being controls on a stalk to operate the trip computer.

Might be worth adding exactly what your car is (year/model etc) and if possible getting a scan done with VCDS to see what instrument cluster is fitted.

I'm no expert on the pre-FL but that looks to match the imagery in the manual.

At a guess, you might just need to replace the right stalk for one with buttons to get basic functions such as MPG etc.

Test pixels with VCDS. I'm sure you need only the right stalk and an enabled bit in the coding.
