1.8t Max Boost?

any idea what mpg you get out of a modded 4x4 anyone? i know the vrs was managing 24-28 when i had it for a week is the 4x4 much worse?

Hmm.. It depends on your mods, style of driving, and boost settings. I can empty my tank in an hour or even less at the track. For road use, with the boost controller at .4 bar (minimum), I've gotten more than 400km on 1 tank (not a 4x4). At minimal settings, it's still pretty peppy.

One thing that surprised me with the Octavia was the MPG. As it only uses 4WD when it needs to, the transmission losses are far less than a traditional Subaru or non-Haldex Quattro transmission. The upshot of this is that with 11,000m under my belt, the Jabba'd 4x4 has averaged 29mpg. The worst full tank was 23mpg when thrashed and the best, 37.8 (FULL tank).

To give you some sort of comparison, my 99MY Impreza averaged 24mpg over 25,000m and 8 months - and a lot more of this was on the motorway than the Octavia.

I did a quick calculation a month ago, and the RUNNING COSTS (Fuel, insurance, tyre wear and servicing) are 40% less than the Impreza... :dtp:

My 4X4 has averaged 31.20mpg over 6132 miles. Since visiting Jabbasport the car has averaged 30.72mpg over the last 711 miles.

Bill it did have a standard diff - hence the problem... - the one in question is jim's at awesome gti - more of a show car than anything - after the testdrive i bought an integrale instead - perhaps i was being unfair on it as it was never set up to be a road monster - more of a poser with 300bhp - it was quite expensive in comparison as well

The ATB diff is all mechanical gears.. not like plate diffs which need soem periodic TLC...

User friendly and no maintenance.

Fits into g'box without machining. Reccommended bolt kit also to avoid diff pin failures.

cheers for that bill - i'm going to wait a year till the s/h prices fall a bit then its time for fun! - trick diff oposed to 4x4 may be the way - not too convinced that the 'non full time' 4x4 can give what i'm after

what stack of ratios (come to think of it what g/b) do you run with the seat? the vrs feels very overgeared to me.... mind you with 300bhp i imagine it may not be overgeared as it will be able to pull them

I used to work at Misys IFA Services on Salford Quays. When I worked there, I used to see a sweet looking red Lancia parked nearby every day. A really nice LHD example in immaculate condition. Was that yours?
