Nasty Accident in my Fabia today!!!!!

Featured Replies

There i was minding my own business, just come off the M5 going onto the M6, at Birmingham. Joining road with 2 lanes right one lane for A34 left for the M6. Doing a steady 85 mph in the left lane when a lorry i was passing decided to move over forcing me onto the concrete draing section of the reservation, which than ran out, ending with a big kurb!!!! Big bang!! pulled over as the w****r :finger: in the lorry carried on past regardless. One shattered bent alloy and god knows what else under the car. Got the car to the dealership,

Ouch, sounds nasty! I take it from your post the lorry just drove off? Did you get a number/company/reg plate?

£180's probably the right area from a dealer. Have you checked on here for anyone selling their vRS alloys off? Or have a gander on eBay?

Steve

Alloy and tyre?

No thats just the alloy wheel, no tyre. I'm going for P Zero Nero's all round i think? Any other ideas on tyres???

If I needed 4 all round, I'd consider the P Zeros yeah. Also the Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3.

Steve

Unlucky about the crash.

P Zero's everytime for me!

I got a replacement Alloy through my local bodyshop for £95 trade, not sure what the public markup would be?

From people selling them here, they seem to go for £70-90, depending on alloy condition and tyre depth left.

Steve

Sorry to hear about the accident - it sucks...

I have P Zero Neros - awesome tyres. Just trying to wear the Bridgestones out on the front now!

good tyres make sure they arent S&M's tho cos they are useless for our roads

Not sure about price, but glad you're ok.

Never good to see your car damaged when it's not your fault. Had that recently.

New tyres make it all more fun though. Look on the bright side if you can ;)

Sorry to hear about the crash. If it was a foreign lorry then chances he wouldnt have known you were even there let alone run off the road. The LHD cab means they have a massive blind spot just as you approach the cab when you cannot be seen in the mirrors or through any windows.

Don't they have extra mirrors to compensate for this? You just have to rely on them using them

sorry to here about your crash, hope its all sorted quickly

No - they're not mandatory for foreign trucks. I believe all UK trucks however have to be fitted with them for use on the continent by UK law.

It's a common problem now. My Dad got side swiped on a roundabout by an Italian trucker a couple of weeks ago. Battered the rear wing and creased the roof pillar of his V70. Luckily the trucker stopped and my dad sort of managed to get his details in broken english. He's having fun with the insurance company trying to get it processed at the moment.

It was a foreign truck!! they should change that law on the mirrors and train the bloody drivers to use them just felt lucky that the draining section was there otherwise i would have been squished up against barrier or under the trailer unit, neither would have been very nice. If there is more damage under the car, how do you think i would stand claiming against my insurance to pay for it.

Sorry to hear mate, you'll be able to claim on your insurance if you have fully comp. Trouble is you'll loose your no claims onus if you have any as there is no 3rd party to claim against.
