There are two B6 platforms: the longitudinal one used on the Audi A4 (a development of the B5 platform; and the transverse one created by making the A5 platform wider and longer, used by the Passat 3C and Superb 3T.

So you rather consider changing the fuel tank and all the expense that will involve for the sake of an extra 10 litres of fuel. Can it be so much of a hassle to have to fill the car up - 1st world problems!

Just considering all potential options. People do all sorts of mods easy or difficult. 

I do approx 200 miles per day so given it's so close I would have to fill twice a week as I do 4 days a week in the office. 

Today nearly 42 litres went in for 410 miles. It really is that close to getting 3 days out of it. 

What I should also say is the maxidot said only 165 miles left with the remaining fuel. Hence the need to refill, that dwindled since it was parked up showing 200ish and started and driven short distances for various reasons. 

Latest update. 

The maxidot is way out like the Octy for mpg. They all like to say a lot more than it actually does. The Fabia was the closest within a few mpgs. 

 

2362 miles since purchase and it's doing 45-52 mpg tank to tank. The latest and best was very sedate driving to the speed limits with slow acceleration as I was using the Aviva drive app, 52mpg over 375 miles. Unfortunately I have been stuck in traffic queues too, so I bet it could have been a lot better too. 

 

On that basis it can easily do what I want on 1 tank. Although I am yet to try properly. I have as suggested a 10 litre jerry can with around 9 litres of fuel just incase it runs very low and that will be plenty to get me back home for the remainder of the trip, if the range scares me or I get stuck in traffic. 

What a pleasant surprise. I actually managed to do 3 days in the car without a refuel. Mixed days traffic wise half term maybe helped last week for 2 of the days.

561 miles 50.79 litres. £59.37. That's about 50.20MPG,this is motorway driving, cruise around 72mph. By the time I got to the petrol station for Shell's standard diesel, I was on about 65 miles range. I also did over a mile of 4th gear 3.5k RPM to help the DPF, as per a post by silver1011. 

Still have my Jerry can ready in case I have a problem and no need to pay inflated service station prices!

Can't you use sat' nav' to locate non-services filling stations not too far off  your route?

 

I didn't want to fill up a couple of weeks ago and had 2 300 miles trips in one week, managed it on one tank and still showing 100miles range remaining, keeping to motorway speed limits (just about), not below.  Mind you mine is only a 140.  MFD was showing over 64MPG, of course this was only really 54.

I forgot to say the maxidot said I am getting 56-58MPG combined. Whilst this is closer to the truth on the Superb. The Octy likes to say 67-70MPG but in reality that's 55-58. I am quite fussy and only use Shell fuel and on occasions have ventured off the motorway for fuel, but it costs so much in time. Think the jerry can suggestion was spot on. Otherwise I can make it last now.
