They add 5bhp, and Regals rollers proved it, so there. (I'm not kidding either!)

Cheers again for the positive comments!:thumbup:

Tom, just think, you can only get 8 Tesco bags in there now.:D

Nice tidy looking job that.. well done...

wish i could have a sub... ggrr damn kids.. :(

Still i'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of your install goes :)

Can't you fit one of these in somewhere?

I have a bulk pack of Brown Bread to go in.

Tom, that brown bread still fresh ?

Its fitted, he stuck it on this afternoon.

Who stuck it on

Well, had a good day today. Went over to Ross's around 2pm, and we both removed a door card each, I removed the glove box and removed the trim under the steering wheel. NB - you do not need to remove the air vent to get to the wiring, be warned as it may break

Ross then removed both the inner door panels which are rivetted on. Whilst I put in 2 layers of brown bread in each of the doors, he very cleverly routed my new speaker cable into the doors through the OEM grommets (clever lad that Ross  ) and modified the OEM tweeter grilles to accomodate the Rainbow tweeters which are bigger. Its amazing what you can do with Milliput!

Got the car reassembled as it was getting dark, but all I have left to do is to mount the crossovers, make some MDF spacers for the speakers, and its all done, bar a bit of tweaking of the settings etc.

So a good day, made good progress. I'm very happy that Ross found a way (simple, but clever) of getting the new cable to the doors and also mounting the tweeters behind the original grilles. I'm dead chuffed.

I think I may be the first Fabia owner to achieve this

So thanks Ross, and nice to meet you Bengie, you fascia board wrecking hooligan you!

Glad your happy Tom with todays progress.

Quite a simple yet ingenius way of getting the wiring through the fitted multiplug connection in the a pillar I thought.

Please forgive my blasphemous comment, but just how did you get it through the fitted multiplug connection and how was that ingenious?

Must be trickier than I thought

it was all new cables xav not the original ones, The Man™ might not want his trade secrests revealed ;)

I think I may be the first Fabia owner to achieve this

I've replaced the standard tweeter with Genesis ones, but the were the same size, so just sat in the mounting nicely, a blog of gluegun glue holds them in.

To get the cable through I made a hole in the grommit just below the multiplug on the car side and made a little slit in the rubber tubing to allow the cable in. Not the neatest, i'm jealous :)

It was ingenious by the fact it was so very simple, no cutting, drilling or bodging involved.

Yeah I've come across the Alpine SWD-1600... just wondering how good it actually is? and will it fit under the passenger seat in the Furby vRS?

I was also considering a stealth shelf with some 6x9/7x10's in it hooked up to an amp. Open to any ideas atm really, so long as I don't lose much if any boot space and can still fold the seats flat when the need arises without to much bother. :)

All being well I should be (fingers crossed) picking my brand new silver vRS up on the 1st :D

Indeed - so simple, and very effective. I'd say quicker than reaching for the crimper and/or soldering iron even!

Shall we tell em Ross? I have a couple of pics that show it crystal clear for a "how-to"...

Basically, no cutting or anything, can be returned back to stock in 30 seconds. Its all nice and tidy through the original gromet.

Did your mother not teach you to share? This will be very useful to me, as i need to upgrade them soon! Cheers

Tell you what - join Freedom and I'll tell you. ;)

What exactly are the other benefits of the scheme? Can't see much info on it.

Matt[/quote']Matt my mother taught me to share, lemme know if you want to know how :)

Yeah share, share I say. It's nice to be nice :D

I try and do one good deed a day, and I'm positive it makes me a better person :thumbup:

Another productive day today (pics to follow).

Made up some MDF spacers (40mm) to sit the speakers in, mounted the speaker, mounted the crossover in the door and wired it all up. Sound deadened most of the inner door panel to, including under the window motor.

Jammed a load of foam in the door card to so its a really snug fit - and it doesn't vibrate anymore :)

However, when REALLY cranked up, the woofer does hit the door card. Its not a problem really as when its set up properly the HP filter will be set to 80HZ or so - which should eliminate the problem.

Tidied up the amp wiring too, proper spade terminals now to replace the bare wire connections :o

Also mounted an auxilliary fuse box to run the sat nav, iPOD interface, hands free kit, and is easily tapped into for up to 8 devices! (Cheers to Ross for the idea of mounting it to the left of the glove box under the end panel, spot on!)

So next week I'll be doing the other door, getting the sat nav wired in and turning the sub in its box. Then setting the whole lot up!

I've decided that in the summer the whole lot will be stripped out, as well as the entire interior, dash and all. Will give me an opportunity to thoroughly sound proof the car to reduce road and engine noise, and also apply some felt tape where ever 2 panels touch. Will tidy up the cable routing, give all the interior bodywork a good clean and wax, touch up any scratches from screwdriver slips, replace any scuffed/damaged trim and so on. Will also be sorting the tweeter aim with some fiberglass behind the original tweeter grille, and the same with the woofers. But if the woofer still hits the doorcard, it will be modified so the woofer can poke though (with the Rainbow grilles) - but that would be a last resort. Will also redo the boot build - with QUALITY being the aim, carpetting all the timbers etc and generally making it look like a professional install. Will also be a full set of how to's for the freedom section too.

So all in all, getting there, but still a long long way to go!
