Third Yeti

Featured Replies

For the first time I have acquired a third example of the same car. First a 140 then a 1.8 now a 1.2 DSg. Picked up today and delighted Drive SEL in Candy white all fine but surprised to find Nexen tyres fitted- are they OK or just cheapie ditchfinders- seem Ok but all they have seen so far is dry warm and sensibly driven tarmac. Any advice? Smartlink seems a good thing and quite clever so far.

Nexen is a bit left field, not heard of a brand new Skoda coming on those before. Who was the dealer?

Maybe worth a query on that front.

Prospect Skoda letchworth-8 miles on clock and only in the day before so confident as delivered to them. I/'ve never heard of them being fitted O/E either I was expecting to go to cross climates on the last one before winter so i will seek advice and assume they are **** until happy to the contrary.

Nexen is an average tyre I'd put below the likes to Kumho and Hankook. I put them on my old Leon as recommended by a fitter and I was impressed with the grip for the price. They're certainly not ditchfinders but I'd be suspicious someone was at their work to be honest... My SEL Drive come with Goodyears and I believe Wardy's come with Pirellis which are much better and more expensive tyres towards the premium end. Probably best giving Skoda Uk a call to check before complaining to the dealer!

Our SEL came stock with Nexens so I am not surprised. Collected new in December last year.

Drove it all through the early part of this year in poor conditions and they were fine. I am no racing driver, so YMMV,  but I thought they were fine grip wise etc.

My 1.2 SE L DSG came with Nexens at the beginning of the year. The 2014 Yeti Black Edition that it replaced came with Dunlop SP01. I'm not sure if I'm just imagining it but the Nexens seem to be a lot firmer ride but then there's more differences in the two cars than just the tyres..

My 1.2 SE DSG came with Nexens, delivered October 2016

so they have been used for a few months

Nexens again on my Monte Carlo delivered in December 16, as with all manufacturers depends on what deal they can get at the time.

My 2014 Yeti came on Dunlops, and they were rubbish, collected my 1.2 SEL Drive DSG on Tuesday (23rd May) and it came on Pirellis. Result.

I was very upset when I took my caravan in for new tyres and asked for the same brand.

When I picked up the caravan and got home I found the tyres were Chinese a brand I had

never heard of. A quick google showed their performance was abysmal and that after a few

dealers tried to sell them here they gave up. I had the tyres replaced in short order.

Have you done any research on your tyres? my Yeti has the superb Goodyear Efficient grip,

previous Yeti had Pirellis.

additional info.

I Had Nexens on a kia soul and managed about 14000 on the fronts, the yeti came with Dunlop sports and managed over 21000 on the fronts so I went for them again the only criticisms in reviews is that  they rate low on fuel efficiency

I had a Rapid 14 plate from new had the same tyres not notice any differance

Our Fabia SE came with Nexen tyres. I was initially unsure about how they would perform. I had hoped for a more popular brand like Conti or Michelin, but after 18 months of using them they seem fine. I believe that Nexen is a Korean tyre company with a large new manufacturing base in central Europe that supplies to more than just Skoda. I've seen new Ford cars shod with Nexen tyres, so they have obviously impressed some of the biggest car makers with their mid-range tyres. It's all down to cost in the end, I suppose, and Nexen tyres must represent a significant cost advantage to Skoda compared to the better known brands. I'm happy enough with how they work, despite my initial scepticism.
