Door lock, which one?

Featured Replies

I shall buy a new door lock to the drivers door on the left side.
In the online spare part catalog it says there are 2 variants.
One black with part #6X1837013H and one green with part #3B1837015A.
It says that you shall look which is mounted. Like if they are not interchangeable.
A new original lock is expensive as hell.
But on Ebay you find new ones quite cheap.
You can find both parts but on many cases they are labeled with both numbers as if they are the same lock or interchangeable.
Can anyone tell me if there are any difference between the locks or are they compatible with each other.
I'm not comfortable with removing the door trim to look after which one is mounted in my car.
A shop will do the switch of locks. I will only buy the new one. So I must get the right one.

I have 3 of the eBay locks on my Mk1 and have been on there for 4 years with no issues.

Ebay ones are fine.

As to which pt no,

Id guess one is the LHD drivers lock and the other is RHD? Maybe?

No, it has nothing to do with that.

Hi All

I have an issue with my drivers door bottom puddle light that is not coming on and when I turn on my side lights there is no buzzer sound to let you know that they are on.

I've spent all this afternoon trying to figure out what this might be. I changed my puddle lights over to the passenger side and this is now working but not the drivers side again.

My car is a silver Skoda Octavia Elegance hatchback MK1 2002 and I am wondering if this is a microswitch problem or locking mechanism.

I have tried E Bay to find parts and is proving quite due to the age of the vehicle.

Please advise if you can thanks.

It could be the wiring into the bottom of the window motor as they are prone to water ingress and corroding the pins and multi plug. Also check the wiring in the rubber boot between the door and car as they are prone to snapping the wiring inside.

Youll probably find that your mirror doesn’t work either on that side.

Hi Skoda Driver 1972

Just got back in car this very minute and the light came back on again and the buzzer sounded again for a short while.

Tried the drivers mirror and this is working fine.

I am wondering if it's a faulty relay switch after a few seconds  I heard a click from somewhere.

Will check wiring from door to body of car.

Thanks.

Hi Skoda Driver1972

OK thanks and for the link.

Best check this out with the micro switch.

Thanks again.

By the time you mess about doing the micro switch it’s just as easy to replace the door lock.

I've had numerous ebay locks on Mk4's, my Leon and 2 on the VRS since March and never had an issue.

One of the few things you can actually buy the cheapest version of on ebay and it works
