My car has been taken to the hospital

Featured Replies

My car had the EPC light come on a couple of times recently and ran without turbo boost. Phoned Skoda Assistance today to ask what they thought and they sent a recovery truck. So she has to sail on a boat for 12 hours tonight to be at the garage for Monday morning.

I'm going to be out of contact pretty much next week so it'll be difficult to find out what's happening if they try to phone. I'm going to miss my car.

Good luck with one, did have to look up your location to understand the pick up, do you get a loaner car whilst its away

As you may be able to tell, I'm not short of spare vehicles. If the car is going to be away for any length of time though, I will be requesting compensation of some sort. I've had to fork out for it to go on the boat already.

And just to add to the misery, the Roomster came out in sympathy today, went into limp home started flashing the heater plug light. Cleared after a restart though thankfully.

Kinda think you you may like the loud pedal !

Haha, what makes you say that?

In all honesty, what person doesn't? But I could take it or leave it. I'd be happy to do my daily commute in my old Felicia. What I love about the Octavia is that it can settle right down and be driven sedately without feeling it is needing to be going faster.

I drive a big selection of vehicles in my working life and it's the variety that I love. Could be a small city car right up to a 57 seater coach.

Small update, a turbo charger has been ordered for my car. Should be with them on Friday.

Saturday update, car was in the garage with the bonnet up just after 12 today so hopefully that's a good sign.

I have contacted Skoda UK to see if they're willing to help out and ease the inconvenience. It's too late to get a courtesy car, but a bit of help with ferry costs would be a good start. They did phone back yesterday but I was out of contact at work and they closed before I finished so it'll probably be Tuesday before I catch them.

Captain's Log: Stardat....  Oh wait that's something different.

Update, I got the car back today having spent a day at my Mum and Dad's house. Seems to be running well but I'll be taking it easy for a while with the new turbo.

According to the invoice I received back with the car, the actuator had seized and wouldn't free up even after having the oxy-acetylene torch taken to it! I also got them to code in the LED number plate lights for me.
