Fabia VRS - brakes and handling?

Featured Replies

I can afford to have a car like mine, so I will have a car like mine, and anyone who doesnt like it can bugger off ;)

Pbirkett.... tbh most people on this forum could afford to buy your car and more.. so I wouldn't say things like this in here as you come across to sound a tit.

I could afford a new Porsche 911 and so could many other people in here but we CHOOSE not to cos it would compromise other aspects of your lives. Also I doubt no one else has the cheek and ordasity to say what you did.

everyone in this forum has their own experiences in thier cars and don't like it when people come in and slag thier cars off so it's only natural to defend them. So let them do that without looking like a tit.

I had a few cars on my list to buy for March and the clio was one of them but after having many back to back test drives in the Fabia and Clio I choose the Fab becuase it suited me soo much more then the clio did.

Also cos it was streets ahead of the clio in many aspects.IMO :o

everyone has an opinion and you should respect it even if you don't like it. I have learnt to do this from the many months on be here so I think you should too.

Also clio 182 owners have a rep for being ***** and idiots! pbirkett is reinforcing the idiot part.

rant over. :D

I could afford a new Porsche 911.

If I had I'd be turning it upside down to see the word "Matchbox" moulded into the floor

Bored now :P

Reminds me of a quote from one of the Dirty Harry films

Opinions are like A** Holes........ Everyone's Got One

I could never in a million years afford a brand new Porsche 911 and I thought I earnt a decent wage! :(

Whilst you're working for someone else you'll never earn enough IMO.

Amazing how some threads change over time aint it ?

Great stuff !

E.G - Q) Need advice fittin my rear wiper arm to my Fabia vRS ?

A) Fabia vRS's are a heap of sh*te and Renault Clio 182's are far better. Not only can they corner at 4g, but they are the safest, fastest, most reliable supercsrs in the whole universe. Anyone who disagrees will get thier ****ing heads caved in !!!!!

Hi there' date='

Doing some more research before buying my next car. The two areas that the Fabia VRS issometimes criticised for are the brakes and the handling. Is this criticism justified?

Before anyone asks I'm not into modifying cars although I do appreciate that by spening some cash I can probably improve the brakes and the handling.

Thanks and all the best.

I for one don't think there is anything wrong with the car out of the box, Skoda / VAG group spend millions developing a car to offer a well rounded package, usually compromising in several areas for safety and comfort.

My one has been modified in many areas, the biggest single improvement was fitting the KW coilovers which in turn helped the brakes, I've had 312mm S3 brakes on and didn't like them so now I run standard brakes, if I could justify the money I'd fit EPCs or Brembos to do a proper upgrade. Fitting the coilovers has made the ride a lot worse just ask my kids in the back :)

The car as it comes is fine as a small hatchback with plenty of torque and good MPG, it's not designed as an out and out hot hatch more a warm super mini, with good safety and comfort.

Fabia's are crap.

;):D

Maybe it's time to roll another spliff Paul to chill out a bit?

Perhaps PJ that you don't have any driving ability and rely on your brakes too much:eek:

I think the Fabia vRS is just fine as it is. The handling is a perfect compromise of ability and real world practicality. I find it just right for my mix of A road, Motorway and town driving, firm without being uncomfortable, and I've yet to need any more cornering ability even though I drive across the Snake Pass regularly in a somewhat spirited manner.

The brakes are fine as well, although mine were way over sensitive until the 'ABS Controller' (garage totally avoided answering the speciific question - but it cost Skoda
