Window Seal Crud.

Featured Replies

Just spent an hour cleaning the window seals on the Toledo. Well not necessarily a seal just a rubber type strip the windows go up and down on, the bottom ones.

They don't half collect muck in there and I regularly clean them but it's like  algae and muck, stuff will start growing in there.

Are the Rapid ones the same?

Same on my Toledo too, I've only recently had mine so I thought its because my car has been parked on the dealer forecourt for a while. I think my passenger side window is squeaky because of the crud that's collected on that strip.

Yes I've noticed that happens a lot with the late 2009 Ibiza, does not seem to do that with wife's old Polo or her new one or my cars, maybe VW Group need to start sharing "preferred" external seals materials across all marques?

Mines the same, but it has been parked outside since built in Feb 2014.

mine gets this too

I'm getting this on my 2016 Fabia. What's the best way to clean it?

I just used an old toothbrush in there with neat car shampoo and scrubbed away. Also a thin blade to get the stuck on stuff off. Finished off by applying Autoglym vinyl and rubber treatment.

Well, even though I retire next week, I'd say life's too short for all that.  It's a metal box for getting from A to B, when all's said and done.

I enjoy messing with my car,it's a relaxing hobby for me,so it's more than a metal box to me. Each to their own :D
