Did anyone notice this discrepancy..It feels to me very weird

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have just noticed today that my trip, oodometer total mileage and dashboard trip computer mileage  are  not syncing together..

I set the trip to "0" just a while ago and drove 4.7miles when my odometer mi was 65680..so after travelling 4.7miles on trip counter I can see my Odometer mileage is 65684 and dashboard showing 5mi..

its very funny.

Is there anyone having same issue?

Did you go around lots of roundabouts or bends? The sensors are on different wheels so one side can travel further than the other.

Maybe.

Not really...there was only one round about..I kept my eyes in the meter and was surprised that on trip meter mileage was increasing from 1 then 2 (no round about, just normal local road) but odometer it was still 0.

Not quite sure what you mean, if the odometer was previously 65680 and you travel 4.7 miles, it should indeed show 65684. Where does it show the 5 miles? On the radio infotainment screen? Probably just rounds it because it doesn't show it to a decimal place.

Yup, regular as clockwork.

Is the steering lock on ?

I've read the OP 6 times and still have no idea what the question is.

Probably a rounding error. In some electronic systems and even Excel, 4.7 is 5 depending on how you set it up. If that makes sense.

If it is a wind up......................then you got me.

Thanks everybody for replys..

those who didn't understand:

On the left bottom of your Maxidot disply we can see the real mileage of the car(odometer) and on the right bottom we can see the trip mileage which can be set to '0' and the other reading was from Infoteinment system under 'Car' menu.

So when I topped the tank to the full yesterday I put the trip to '0'..and I noticed when trip mileage is increasing nothing happening to real mileag so they are not syncing.

This is normal, the two mileage as not directly linked.

Think of it like this... If you reset your trip mileage when the total mileage was 1000.99 (displayed as 1000km) you would drive 0.01km & the odo would show 1001 and the trip would show 0km.

As long as there is only 1km difference everything is normal.

Ahhh - I think the previous owner must have used VCDS to enable Byte 6 in Module 47 (Central Introgalactic Instrument Display), by selecting "Vorsprungtimewarpage".

Either that or you have a faulty hashchamber in the crug module.

Really!!!! But it was a company car and I am the second owner, bought this car from cargiant.I can check the code if you explain me exactly what to look for.

I think the code is vv1nd up.

Thanks Gabbo..i have also been thinking exactly same way as you explained since this morning. I will hkeep eye to figure out the difference of the mileages if I drive today.

Seriously, come on! This is still a wind up surely!?

The odometer (total mileage driven) does not have a decimal place, it simply increases in 1 mile increments.

The trip mileage however has one decimal place so increases in 0.1 mile increments.

As soon as the trip meter is reset for the first time it'll never match the odometer exactly ever again...

It's the same on my Citroen - the trip has 0.1 increments but the total only has 1 mile increments.

I quite understand now...thanks everybody..lets not proceed with this thread anymore...thanks again.

Over the years i have paid attention to VW Group vehicles i drive and when i change tyre size.

Some tyres on i can zero the Milometer and the Trip, A & B and they match after a 100 miles or more, and tyres fitted bigger can have the Trip & Milometer not matching by the couple of tenths.

Just how it is.
