Hello All, 

I am hoping that someone here can offer advice to me about a little problem. 

The electric window failed on the drivers side. On investigation it appeared that the cable had frayed and snapped. 

A replacement was sought, it would not fit. On further investigation, ot appears that the electric windows and the central locking were modifications and not original features.

All of the inner workings to return to a manual winder have been removed, plus now it is somehow linked to the central locking. 

I am at a loss for what to do.

I can't really keep the window up with pegs long term, and the parts to fix it seem elusive.

It seems that the central locking can be fixed with a new system ( approx £100) am I correct ? 

Sorry if this is a bit rambling, I am here scratching my head.

Got any piccies? If the basis is the original manual window system, then manual fix-it kits and door carriers are still available.

I have replaced the window mechanism with a system which can also fit into a Polo. VW were contacted and I was informed that the company who did the modifications ( Central locking & electric windows) have gone bust and cannot be located. I now have a working window, but no central locking....I can live with that :-) I wish I had taken photos before putting it back.
