EGR Failure/Skoda Contribution

Featured Replies

The EGR has failed on my wife's 2010 1.6TDi CR 105 with the error as 'EGR Sensor 2' (forgot the error code, think it was P0407??).

Anyway, had it to the dealer for confirmation in the hope of chasing Skoda for some sort of contribution due to the (as we all know) well documented failure rate of the part at around 60,000 miles - lo and behold, the car has just tripped over to 60,700 miles!! Also the fact there are numerous reports of contributions in the past for this part, and the last one my dealer had (which my local independent confirmed as they had been approached to repair) was 100%, they covered the full cost! Dealer has spoke to Skoda and Customer Services and they've denied any contribution. Spoke to Customer Service myself and they say their policy now is to NOT give ANY contributions to customers, and that it's purely the dealer discretion - basically the dealer has to fund it! They said they're only funding replacements of the EGR on 'fixed' cars to instil 'Customer Confidence' and that it in no way reflects the fact that the part is prone to failure (even more so after the 'fix')!

Now I'm not greedy enough to expect 100%, but due to the issues with the EGR's, especially on the early CR engines, I feel they should be something.

Basically I'm after whether anyone else come across this recently. Just looking for others experiences with applying for contributions in the last 12 months, that's when the operator claims they changed their policy although I had a contribution for my window regulator 1 year ago, although granted this had failed a couple months outside warranty - but there was still a contribution... hmm.

Now seemingly the VW Group will be offering a 2 year warranty on the Euro5 TDI that are affected by the Defeat Device Scandal and the failures of vehicles getting The Fix.

Keep on at Skoda UK Customer Services because the Failures while the Defeat Device is still operational are well understood by the VW Group.

Failures at low mileages with Euro 5 Emissions TDI's as sold to customers. failures afterwards from The Fix, very like Fundamental Design , manufacturing, component choices and software failings.
