Pioneer Sat Nav Head Unit Problem

Featured Replies

I recently bought a 2012 Octavia Vrs that I'm delighted with, though it did not have a factory Sat Nav fitted.
Following a recommendation a local company fitted a quite expensive Pioneer head unit with sat nav, there have been problems though. The main one being that when navigating the arrow on screen constantly deviates off the road, sometimes even thinks its travelling in the wrong direction. They have tried different GPS receivers in various locations around the car with the same results.
The unit shows that the receiver is present, as is the speed pulse.
They have connected the unit to the car with a Canbus giving steering wheel controls function though my car does not have a multifunctional wheel.
Also the Pioneer unit has the capability to show factory parking sensors & heater controls.
The company despite being in business for donkeys years don't know how to make these functions show on the unit.
Therefore I wonder if the car needs to be programmed to know the unit is present, which might cure the nav problem & initiate the additional features?  Can anyone help please.
They don't have the facilities to program the car, I live in West Yorkshire if this is the problem can anyone recommend someone to do this?

What year is your car? It may need updated parking sensor and climate control units for them to display on the Pioneer

Hi yes its a 2012 Octavia Vrs TDi

The current head unit is a Pioneer AVIC980DAB

However the company that supplied & fitted the unit have called to say that they will change the unit so are having an Alpine INEW928R fitted, this will hopefully cure the problem, although still have doubts.

This will also show the heater controls & park assist (though not fitted on my car unfortunatly) so can link in to the car. As the supplier does not know how to do this again wonder if after installing the Alpine unit I should go to a Skoda specialist????

To get climate display on the INE-W928R, you will probably need the APF-V100VW as well.

I think they are compatible :)
