Anybody help me please?

 

my stereo isn't turning off when I take my key out of the ignition, the settings on the stereo are set properly, but it still isn't working. When I turn the stereo off (after taking the key out) it says TIM 2HR

 

i removed the stereo today and the connections Seem fine

 

im at a loss to why it's not working

Has the stereo recently been fitted? On these cars you have to swap the red and yellow wires.

It's a factory original stereo :/ 

 

 in other news since I've had a look at the back of the stereo my cd changer is working

OK, I think I have sussed it. It seems it's to do with the traffic report function on the stereo. TIM stands for Traffic Information Memory.

 

Found this info for the Symphony radio. I suppose other models will be similar...

 

 

Radio operation

TIM Function

(Traffic Information Memory)

 

With the TIM Function, up to 9 traffic anno-

uncements with a total length of a maxi-

mum 4 minutes are automatically

stored by means of a built-in memory.

The recording is automatic if the set pro-

gram transmits traffic broadcasts (recognisa-

ble by the indication "TP"

Standby Recording

Standby recordings take place when the

appliance is switched OFF for a limited

time.

These recordings are deleted 6 hours after

the time has run down. Switching on the

appliance ends the readiness to record.

 

 

2-hour recording

If the TP range was selected before the

appliance was switched off, all following

traffic announcements are recorded auto-

matically in the next two hours. This is brief-

ly indicated in the display by the message

"TIM 2 h ".

 

 

Recording for 24 hours

By pressing the AIM button when the

appliance is switched off, a 24-hour record-

ing mode is activated. The last heard pro-

gram and "TIM 24 h'' are briefly indicated in the display.

Thanks mate, still no joy on the stereo front had a tinker and nothing seems to work

The stereo can be setup to NOT turn off with the key. It's in the options, the GALA settings.

The TIM 2HR/24HR thing is traffic program recording. Hit the A/F button to cycle the non-TP presets rather than the TP enabled ones.
