Octavia Retractable Boot Cover Problem

Featured Replies

Hi there, lovely Skoda people.

I have a 2011 Octavia Scout (which I adore!), and for some reason the retracting boot cover has stopped retracting.

I've had a poke about, but can't work out how to get the sprung ends off, to get to the mechanism, to try to wind it back up. There's a recess, and my guess is that there's a plastic retaining lug that stops the sprung end from coming off, but I can't work out how to get the end off. I've poked about with a long thin screwdriver, but I'm wary about wrecking a lug and damaging the plastic.

Does anyone know how to get the ends off, so I can actually get to the cover roll?

I've looked online, but can't see mention of actually taking the ends off. I'm probably being dense, or missing something obvious.

The cover is retracted 90% of the time, but as with most things, I guess heat etc can cause fatigue. I know you can get them online for around £45, but would like to have a bash at repairing it, or at least finding out what the problem is, before trying to replace it.

Thanks in advance.

Interested in this as I have the same problem.  I have a 2015 model Octavia Estate and the ends of my boot cover are slightly different to yours.  Just like you I can not take the end caps of - there are no screws or lugs that I can see.  So AuntieMokasser, did you ever get your ends off?  Did you solve the problem or end up buying a new one?
