R20 wheels?

Featured Replies

Anyone run their superb on 20'' rims? Any pictures? How's the handling with those?

On 19" wheels.  Handles perfectly.  20" may be too much

Agreed 19" wheels looks good, handles well and still comfortable on the L & K.  20" wheels may well be too harsh and upset the ride.

I saw its possible on Octavia. Theoretically you can have 20 inch wheels on Superb.

Performance wise is not recommended, its about the looks.

Why not? 2cm wider tires (255 vs 235), that's huge for handling in bends.

And seriously guys, 19 inch rims is about the looks, tires have same width as 18 inch rims.

officially the superb can handle 20" rims.

more details here.

Not sure what to say, what makes it official? And why put 255/30ZR20 for the 280 and only 245/35ZR20 for the 220?

Btw, their calculator even suggests a 275mm tire :)

I am referring to the fact that 20 inch wheels are heavier than 19/18/17, and (you can) feel it in the way that the car is accelerating.

If you want to squeeze every bit of your car, you can consider this. For everyday use... i think its not the case.

If you want to know why not look at F1 - the tyre makers would like larger rims so tyres looked more like road tyres but changing to larger rims and low profile tyres would slow the cars down significantly.

You might notice a difference in cornering as the lower sidewall would be stiffer but you should not be pushing that hard on a public highway.

You will notice a difference over potholes and speed humps where you risk damaging the rims, the tyres and your back.  SWMBO has blistered about four tyre sidewalls and dented one rim.

I like the way mine rides on the 18s if I wanted a hard ride I would have considered an Audi.

Reasonable to assume you had the 18” wheels when you mistakenly let your boss drive your car?
